When you’re trying to figure out the best essential oils book to begin with, it’s important to decide what you plan on using essential oils for. You can use them to make your own bath and body products. I’ve created stress-relieving bath bombs and flaxseed soap using essential oils. Or, you can use essential oils to create your own cleaning products. I’ve made homemade laundry detergent and fabric softener sheets

But, you can also use essential oils for aromatherapy. And, that may require a different type of book than a DIY craft book using essential oils. Using essential oils for aromatherapy is one of the main ways I use them at this point. I created an aromatherapy travel kit that I bring with me when I travel. But, I also use them in my clay stress ball. And, I even wrote a whole post on how I use aromatherapy during the holidays.

Some people use essential oils for their medicinal uses. While I haven’t experimented a lot with that. I do find that essential oils help me manage stress. But, many others use essential oils for a wide variety of medicinal reasons. So, it’s important when you’re trying to figure out what the best essential oils book is that you know what you want to use them for.

Which essential oils are good for beginners?

Of course, in addition to choosing the best essential oils book, you need to decide which oils you want to try using. If your plan is to manage stress, you may want to try lavender and chamomile. For cleaning, I find that lemon and tea tree oil are good basic oils. If you want to make bath and body products, go with the scents you enjoy. I love rose, jasmine, and cedarwood. If you want to try aromatherapy, peppermint is a mood lifter and lavender helps you relax.

But, you also have the option of going with a starter box for your specific needs. Or, you can buy a few essential oil blends that contain different oils that are often used together.

How should I store my oils?

You want to keep your essential oils in a cool, dark place. Do not leave them in the sun or in a sunny room. I generally keep mine in the refrigerator during the summer. And, I have a decorative wooden box that I use in the winter when the weather isn’t as hot. That way, I can close the lid and the oils will be in a dark place. This box is very similar to the box that I use. You can get them smaller or larger depending on the number of oils you want to hold.
