In most cases, a healthy liver, kidney, etc. can handle what you take into your body. That’s their job and they do it fairly well most of the time. However, if you’re tired, sluggish, foggy, irregular, suffer from rashes, etc., the cause may be a build up of things that your body cannot get rid of quickly enough. In this case, you may benefit from a detox.

There are plenty of foods that should be part of our everyday diet that help our bodies detox. While you certainly can purchase a juice, tea or supplement, many of these foods will help you detox as well. As with all things, moderation is key. You absolutely must drink enough water, get enough sleep, and get regular exercise as a part of any attempt to detox.

  1. Artichokes help promote a healthy liver.
  2. Almonds help stabilize blood sugar and remove impurities from your bowels.
  3. Apples are a good source of pectin which helps detox heavy metals.
  4. Asparagus is considered an anti-inflammatory food and also helps your liver eliminate toxins.
  5. Avocados help your liver to eliminate synthetic chemicals.
  6. Basil is a diuretic and helps your kidneys detox.
  7. Blueberries help block bacteria in the urinary tract.
  8. Broccoli helps your liver eliminate toxins more easily.

  14. Flax seeds bind to toxins in your intestinal tract and flush them from your body.

  17. Grapefruit helps fight oxygen free radicals that can damage cells.
  18. Green tea is high in antioxidants and is also said to help control blood sugar.
