Lemon Mint Iced Tea

I love iced tea in the summertime. I don’t drink it as often during the colder months. But, once the weather starts to get warmer, I just can’t get enough. Have you tried my Templeton Iced Tea recipe yet? Or, maybe you enjoy making sun tea instead?

This lemon mint iced tea recipe uses three tea bags. you can use whichever type you have on hand. To keep it herbal and caffeine-free, you can use chamomile or peppermint tea bags. Or, if you want something with caffeine, you can use green tea or black tea. Why not try something different and use Earl Grey or even Oolong.

How should I sweeten this?

If you want a honey mint iced tea, you can sweeten this with honey. But, any type of sweetener including stevia, sugar, and agave will work quite well. You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less depending on how sweet you like your lemon mint iced tea.

Lemon mint iced tea variations

There are a few different variations you can make if you want to. If you want a lemon iced tea, simply leave the mint out. If you want a mint tea lemonade, simply start with lemonade instead of water. You can leave out the extra lemon as well.  You can make a basil mint iced tea by adding basil leaves along with the mint leaves.

Or, for a sweeter taste, you can sweeten your lemon mint iced tea with this peppermint simple syrup. And, don’t forget to garnish your drink with a slice of lemon or lime.

You can also change up the tea bags for another type if you like. I mentioned you could use black, green, or herbal teas. But, you can also try something like blueberry or pomegranate for a completely different taste. There are all sorts of iced tea recipes out there.

Tip for making lemon mint iced tea

My husband loves adding ice to his drinks in the summer. So, whenever he makes iced tea, he adds at least 5 or 6 ice cubes. The end result is that his iced tea is watered down as the ice cubes melt. Instead, we freeze iced tea in ice cube trays. That way when the ice melts, it’s melted tea instead of melted water.

How long does this last?

Because there are no preservatives in this lemon mint iced tea, you need to keep it in the refrigerator in a covered pitcher. Drink it within two days. Or, you can freeze it on freezer bags and defrost it as you need it.
