Pumpkin Spice Essential Oil Blend DIY
While we hear this term all the time, there really isn’t just one way to make this fall oil blend. This scent is usually a combination of cinnamon, clove, ginger, nutmeg, and vanilla.
FUN FACT: Pumpkin spice doesn’t actually contain any pumpkin at all. It’s simply the scents we associate with our favorite fall treats like pies and quick bread.

How do I make my house smell like pumpkin spice?
There are lots of different ways you can use these EOs in your home. An essential oil diffuser is one of the simplest ways to make your house smell like fall.
But, there are other ways you can make your house smell like autumn.
- Create your own homemade Febreze spray and use it in your home as needed.
- Make your own diffuser and add your favorite oils.
- Create a DIY soy candle and scent it with a pumpkin spice essential oil blend.
How to make a pumpkin diffuser blend
There are lots of different types of diffuser blends, but this is my favorite fall blend when I want my house to smell like autumn spices.
Tools / equipment needed
- 20 drops of cinnamon
- 15 drops of ginger
- 20 drops of nutmeg
- 15 drops of clove bud
- 5 drops of cardamom
Alternative scent
If you love the scent of your favorite holiday latte, you can add 5 drops of coffee essential oil to your blend. You can add this to your favorite carrier oil and let it diffuse on the counter in the kitchen.
All you need to do is to add the drops to a bottle (1/4 ounce) and gently shake to combine them. You can then use this blend in your diffuser or any type of craft project that you need to scent.
How should I store this diffuser oil blend?
Always mix your EOs in a dark-colored bottle. Light and heat will deteriorate them and they will lose their scent and their properties.
I tend to store mine in a cool, dark place. During the summer, I often keep the bottles in the refrigerator so that they don’t get too warm.
You can keep this blend in a dark cool location for about 6 months. That should easily take you all the way through the fall and holiday seasons.
Can I use this in my food and beverage recipes?
I do not ever recommend ingesting these oils. If this is something you’re considering, speak to a naturopath or your medical doctor first.
