I indulged just a bit too much over the holidays. I’m sure you probably feel the same way.  So, this apple detox water is a wonderful way to start over.

For the most part, I live a healthy lifestyle. I don’t normally eat sweets but who can resist a Christmas cookie or two?

Add to that the fact that my sister made us a box of her homemade candies and you can see where I’m coming from. So, what does apple detox water do?

Apple infused water benefits

Detox water recipes with apple are beneficial to you for a number of reasons. Apples contain pectin and pectin will bond to the heavy metals in your system which lets them be flushed from your body more easily which in turn helps your liver.

Make sure you keep the skin on because that’s where many of the nutrients are located. You don’t want to remove that part.

Apples also contain antioxidants and flavonoids like Vitamins C and B Complex. To make this detox water even healthier, I’ve added cinnamon to it.

Cinnamon detox water benefits

Cinnamon is super healthy and helps balance your blood sugar. It’s also an antioxidant and I can always use more of those. Cinnamon has also been used to improve your energy.

Please start with organic apples. You don’t want to be drinking water that has had apples that were sprayed with pesticides floating around in it.

When you purchase cinnamon sticks, make sure that you purchase food-grade cinnamon sticks and not cinnamon sticks intended for crafting from the craft store. There is a difference in how they were treated.

Can I drink this every day?

It is recommended that you drink at least eight glasses of water a day. And, yes, you can definitely drink this apple cinnamon detox water every day.

If you like, you can make a big pitcher and keep it in the refrigerator rather than make this one glass at a time. Then, just pour yourself a glass each day.

I admit that I am not a big fan of plain water. One of my goals for this year is to drink more water and this Apple Cinnamon Detox Water is a tasty way to do that.

To save money, be certain to buy the cinnamon sticks in bulk rather than in the tiny jars from the grocery store. If you enjoy my Apple Cinnamon Detox Water, you may also like my Blueberry Apple Cider Vinegar Detox.

What else can I add to apple cinnamon detox water recipes?

You can certainly change up this recipe any way you want to. Just keep in mind that to receive the full benefits, you should keep the apples and cinnamon in there.

If you want to try a different flavor, you can add a few sprigs of fresh mint, sliced cucumbers, your favorite fresh berries, or sliced citrus sections.

  1. Hi, can you refill the water in the jar and if so, how many times before you have to discard the apples and cinnamon? Thank you

    • Hi Kayla! Thanks for stopping by. The skin is loaded with nutrients and vitamins. And, if you eat them when you’re done with the drink, they add fiber. But, if you really dislike skins, you can peel them if you want.

    • They can be expensive, but for me they’re worth it because I’m not eating the chemicals sprayed on other fruits which can lead to health problems.

  4. I really need to find more detox drink recipes. This one sounds SO delicious, but I’m allergic to fresh apples, and I’m guessing that cooked apples wouldn’t have quite the same effect. Can I just tell you…apples are my favorite fruit in the world and it KILLS me that I can’t consume them anymore!

    • I would miss apples a lot! You could probably do pears. It wouldn’t have the same health benefits as the apples but it bet it would taste good!
