How do you make lilac water?

It’s really very simple to make lilac water and lilac lemonade. For lilac water, you simply place the blossom in a quarter of water. Then put it in the refrigerator overnight.

In the morning, your water will taste like lilacs. You should be able to use the same blossom at least twice. It’s a wonderfully refreshing floral taste.

This lilac lemonade recipe uses fresh lilacs because they were in season. But, if your lilacs are out of season and you want to enjoy this year-round, make up a batch of lilac syrup.

How long will this last?

Because this lilac lemonade recipe doesn’t contain any preservatives, you will need to keep it in the refrigerator and drink it within two to three days.

  1. Does it matter what kind of lilac tree/bush you use? I have a type of dwarf lilac bush and would love to try this but not sure if it’s good to us?

  2. Is the water you’re using in the syrup, or to fill the pitcher, the same water you soaked the lilacs in? Super unclear!
