Spring will be here before you know it. But, while I’m waiting, I’ve been considering what type of relaxing outdoor area I can add to my rustic garden.
While you’re getting your garden in shape, don’t forget to check out these lawn mower maintenance tips to get your lawn ready.
Backyard Oasis on a Budget
Since it’s not likely that we’ll be doing a lot of traveling this summer, it really makes the most sense to create some type of outdoor area that my husband and I can relax in. After all, I can enjoy a glass of iced tea in a lawn chair just as easily in my backyard.
We don’t have a large budget to re-do our yard so we are hoping to maximize what we can do by focusing on one area rather than trying to recreate the entire back yard. I like the idea of having one spot devoted to relaxing.
So, here are a few things that we’re considering adding to our relaxation spot. If you’re wondering how to create a backyard oasis on a budget, why not try a few of these ideas.
How do I make a cheap backyard oasis?
There are a lot of different ways to decorate your backyard on the cheap. Much depends on whether or not you will be doing the work or hiring a landscaper. The more you do yourself, the less expensive it will be.
Remember, when you focus on one area rather than the entire back yard, it’s a lot easier to stay on budget.
Here are a few simple backyard design ideas you can add to your area:
- Deck or patio
- Propane fire pit
- Outdoor rug
- Stone path
- Garden trellis
- Shade tree
- Water fountain
How do I turn my yard into an oasis?
The first step is to pick the spot you want your backyard oasis to be located in. I would recommend an area that offers both sun and shade if that’s possible. You’ll want a spot that is relatively flat so that you can add chairs, a table, and a fire pit.
If you don’t have an area that has both sun and shade, a retractable shade can often work. A pergola with a retractable shade will make your relaxing spot unique.
Here are a few other features you might want to consider:
- Privacy screen
- A living herb wall
- Space for kids to play
- Outdoor seating
- Backyard fire pit
- Log rack
- Inexpensive perennials
- Birdbath to attract birds
Backyard oasis ideas with a pool
We won’t be having a pool in our yard. We don’t have enough level area to have one. But, if you are planning on a pool area, here are a few ideas.
- Cabana to change clothes
- Pool toy storage
- Floating pool furniture
Tips for creating a backyard oasis on a budget
Remember that what you need will really depend on what you plan on doing in the area. If you have younger children, you will want to consider their needs as well. Some sort of toy structure would be helpful.
If you plan on entertaining, a larger seating area will be needed. And, you might want to consider a grill or a pizza oven.
If you just want a backyard oasis for you and your spouse to relax in. It may be enough to have a shaded area with a hammock and some wind chimes.
