Pumpkin Quilling Pattern

Quilling involves shaping strips of paper into different patterns. I’ve been doing quilling for several years but am still pretty much a novice. This pumpkin quilling pattern is easy enough for a beginner to do.

What is quilling?

Quilling or paper filigree is a paper art that involves rolling, shaping and gluing thin strips of paper to create decorative designs. Quilling has been around since the Renaissance age and can be very simple or amazingly complex.

I’ve been quilling for a few years but my projects are still quite basic. So, if you’re new to the craft, there is no reason you can’t do this pumpkin quilling project too.

How do you make the rolled paper quills?

The individual circles of rolled paper are made using a quilling tool. It’s a small metal tool with a nib on one side. You slide a strip of quililng paper into that nib and you twist the tool until you have a roll the size you need.

What kind of paper do I need?

There are special 1/8″ wide strips of colored paper that are used for this pumpkin quilling project. It’s important that they are all a uniform size. So, you could try to make your own. But, it is so much easier to just purchase a package of strips.

  • Carefully position the pumpkin pieces on the card stock to make your pumpkin.
  • Add the person’s name to your card or if you prefer, you can print out their name on the computer onto white card stock before applying your design for this pumpkin quilling pattern.

Pumpkin Quilling Pattern for Place Card

You can lean the card against a mini pumpkin or place it in a wired place card holder if you have one. You could even place it flat on the plate. Or, you could use this pumpkin quilling pattern to make a field of pumpkins. It’s totally up to you.

This is a simple craft that you can use to decorate your place setting any time during the fall season. You could use it for Halloween or Thanksgiving specifically. Or, you could use it any time you entertain during the fall.

Other types of paper crafts

If you enjoy papercrafts like this pumpkin quilling project, there are lots of different types of techniques that you can learn. Have you ever considered teabag folding? Or, you might want to try origami.

You could learn to make these butterflies and then attach them to your notecards. Crafting with paper is one of my favorite ways to relax after a long day.

There are so many different things that you can make with a few simple supplies. And, it’s relatively inexpensive too.

  1. I’ve seen quilling on Craftsy but never tried it. It does look easy though and I love the cute pumpkin design. It doesn’t look like supplies cost too much either.
