What is the best cocoa powder for Easter brownies?
There are a few different cocoa powders that would work well in this recipe. You could use Hershey’s special dark cocoa powder, which will give your brownies a bit of a richer chocolate flavor. Or, you could use Ghirardelli unsweetened cocoa powder, which will give your brownies a more intense chocolate flavor.
Either of these cocoa powders would be perfect for Easter brownies.
Can I use dark chocolate chips?
Yes. My husband prefers semi-sweet so that is what I generally use when I make brownies. But, dark chocolate chips will work well in this recipe too.

What are the best chocolate eggs for brownie batter?
Cadbury mini eggs are absolutely amazing. But, if you cannot find them in the store, you can use any pastel-colored chocolate eggs.
What else can I add to my Easter brownies?
- Chocolate chips
- Pecans or other chopped nuts
- Marshmallows
- Chocolate eggs
- Easter egg M&Ms
- Chopped peanut butter eggs
- Crushed Easter egg candies
- Spread frosting or caramel for a topping
Can I freeze Easter brownies?
Yes, definitely. Cut the Easter egg brownies in squares with a sharp knife and store each brownie in a Ziploc bag. I find this is best to avoid the temptation of eating the entire pan by myself.
Allow them to defrost to room temperature. Or, put them in the microwave for a few seconds. They are extra gooey this way.
Tips
Store cooled brownies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
You can use a box brownie mix if you’re short on time.
I recommend using dark chocolate cocoa powder for the richest flavor.
Use any type of chocolate chips that you like. I prefer semi-sweet, but you could use milk chocolate or even white chocolate.
Add in some chopped nuts, marshmallows, or even shredded coconut for extra flavor and texture.
Decadent topping ideas: frosting, caramel, chocolate ganache, etc.
I hope you enjoy these decadent Easter brownies as much as we do!
