Tailgating Recipe for Hot Cheese Bake
It’s easy to make and relatively healthy. Plus, who doesn’t love to dip chips at parties? I know we all do. Since it’s almost football season here again, I thought I’d share one of our favorite recipes.
If you’re going to take this tailgating, you’ll want to keep it warm. The easiest way to do that is with an insulated bag.
Since this is made in a pie plate, an insulated pie carrier is the easiest way to do it. If you’re serving it at home, you can just plan to take it out of the oven when you need it.
This is one of my favorite food ideas for tailgating. If you need tailgating snack ideas, I hope you’ll try it.
What to bring for tailgating
If you’re tailgating, the most important thing you can do is make this easy and portable. As I mentioned, an insulated bag is the easiest thing to do. But, you can make this tailgating recipe in your slow cooker.
Then, just plug it in when you get where you’re going provided they have power. They even make a football-shaped slow cooker if you want to keep everything themed.
You’ll also want to bring along a few really big plastic bowls for the chips. I try not to travel with glass just in case something gets broken. Here’s an extra-large football-shaped bowl for your chips.
If you’re expecting bad weather, there is an umbrella that attaches to your hitch to keep this hot cheese bake and all your food dry.
When we’ve made this in the past, we use a jar of Queso Dip to save time. You can definitely use it with homemade Queso Dip instead if you want to make this tailgating recipe from scratch.
If you’d rather not bake it, you can add the ingredients to your crockpot and heat it up that way. You can make homemade pita chips as an alternative to tortilla chips if you like.
Food ideas for tailgating
Make sure you serve this hot cheese dip for nachos with a big bowl of salsa and guacamole for those that want to enjoy lots of different flavors. We usually serve a mild salsa and a hot salsa when we have this.
My husband and the boys love the spicy tastes while I enjoy mild. Be sure to stock up on extra tortilla chips just in case. This tailgating recipe is a huge hit at our parties.
