Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes – Nintendo DS review

Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes

Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes

Like most teenagers, my son loves playing video games on his Nintendo DS. Like most parents, we’re concerned about what types of games he plays. At 14, he’d gladly load up his video collection with games rated M for mature. While he does have a couple games that are rated M, we prefer to keep his video collection at the E for everyone and T for teen rating. That’s not always the easiest thing in the world for me to do. He’ll be 15 in August and he’s really not interested in what he calls *little kid* games. When I find a game that is rated E that he actually enjoys playing, I’m thrilled.

That was the case with the Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes game by WB Games. Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes is rated E10+ for cartoon violence. Since he not only loves DC Super Heroes but also loves Legos, this was an instant hit. The basic story is that Lex Luthor is running for President and he and Joker are trying to cheat. Batman, Robin and Superman step in to try to stop them and eventually the whole Justice League join in.

The game play is fairly typical, you jump, punch, move and switch characters using the buttons. The transition is fairly smooth and easy to manage. Different characters have different suits and different powers to draw from when you play. The game has a fantastic story line and it even has full voice which makes playing the game so much more fun that when there are no voices. There are fifteen different chapters in the game. You travel through each fighting, finding studs (money) and gathering collectibles. You find bricks to unlock cheats, there’s a constant parade of new characters to meet and you can even buy cars to drive. While you are playing, you’ll see certain bricks that are gold. You get those when you have accomplished whatever your specific mission is. Some of the gold bricks are only available for certain characters so going through with different characters may be necessary. You may need to switch between characters to complete your mission.

All in all, Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes  is definitely one of the best Nintendo DS Lego games, he’s played yet. He will easily sit and spend a couple hours playing it and still hasn’t exhausted all of the different options. If you want a game that will keep your child entertained for hours with no worries of inappropriate content, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is definitely it.
