Saving Time with Technology

Last Updated on September 23, 2020 by Ellen Christian

Today has really been one of those days. If I could add another 3 hours of productive time to each day I would do it in an instant. I’ve been trying to figure out how I can get more hours in my day but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. I’ve been waking up a bit earlier lately to try and squeeze a few more things in but I really cannot keep doing that. My other option was to look into saving time with technology. Some of the things I do during the day I do out of habit. It’s the way my mom did it so it’s the way I do it. Like dinner. When I try to figure out what to make for dinner, I take down a cookbook, flip through the pages and wait for something to inspire me. When that doesn’t happen, it goes back on the shelf and I take another one. I could waste a good half an hour searching for an idea for dinner.

It’s so much easier to search for a recipe online and then make dinner from that. No need to store cookbooks. No need to print out a recipe and bring that into the kitchen to cook from. All I do is check out MSN Food & Drink on my Nextbook Flexx 11 and find a recipe there to cook from. I found 29 fast and easy salmon recipes all in one place! There are a lot of great cooking apps available including some for menu planning.

I spend a lot of time running around from place to place which I am trying to avoid now. It’s much easier for me to shop from home. There are apps for places like eBay and Amazon available from the Windows Store. It’s very easy to shop from home and search for the latest deals and coupons without wasting gas driving from store to store.

I’ve been exercising more often lately and have been considering a membership to a gym. I’ve decided that it makes more sense for my busy lifestyle to simply exercise at home. I found lots of great yoga apps in the Window store. There are lots of difficulty levels so even if you’re a beginner it’s easy to find something to learn from. The Nextbook Flexx11 is so portable that I can bring it outside with me to exercise in the sunshine.

The Nextbook Flexx 11 features:

  • Windows 8.1 operating system (upgradable to Windows 10 later this year)
  • 11.6” 1366 x 768 IPS capacitive touch screen
  • Quad-Core Intel® AtomTM Z3735G Processor (X86, 1.8GHz)

  • 2.0 megapixel front and rear cameras with integrated microphone

  1. My laptop is big and heavy so I can’t take it with me. I still write down most everything and it would save time to have it on the Nextbook. I’d say being organized would save me the most time.

  2. I would save time with a Netbook Flex 11 by using it as a tablet as well as a laptop. I love that it has a detachable keyboard.

  3. I would save time by having a Nextbook with me in the kitchen and not having to go upstairs to my office (desktop) to check recipes.

  5. My Netbook is many years old and runs XP.  It is so slow I can take a walk pretty much waiting for a screen change. This would definitely speed my life up dramatically. I could actually get something done for a change.

  6. It would save me so much time because this looks compact and I could easily take it with me on the go and hook up to a wi-fi connection where I am and get some work done when I’m not at home 🙂
