Face it, youth is wasted on the young.  I remember my first gray hair and my first wrinkle vividly.  Neither of them made me happy or good about myself.  If only I could turn back the hands of time and keep the youthful glowing skin I had thirty years ago.   • Eliminate as much stress as you can from your life.  Stress can make you sick and a sick body never functions properly. Stress can also lead to skin break outs. Use relaxation techniques to remove stress.
  • Exercise is good for you. Another great way to release stress is to exercise.  Staying active increases your circulation which leads to healthier skin.
  • Eat a balanced diet. Foods that are good for your skin include lean protein, fish, eggs, low fat dairy products, and walnuts. Avoid eating foods high in sugar and fat.
  • Get enough sleep at night.  Getting enough sleep helps reduce the stress in your life.  When you’re tired, your blood doesn’t flow as well as when you’re fully rested.  Bags under your eyes are never attractive.
  • When all else fails, use a concealer but choose a liquid concealer over a wax based concealer.  Liquid concealers cover better and don’t seep into the lines on your face like a wax based concealer will.

  1. I just started regularly exercising and I feel soooo much better!  Even better than I did in my 20s.  I see the benefits of weightlifting and yoga.  Now, only if I could add some cardio.  Sunscreen, sleep, diet, all things I am paying more attention to now that I’m in my late 30s.

  2. Best advice I’ve ever received for skin care is included on your list…sunscreen. My husband just recently told me that he thought I looked a lot younger than my age and I told him sunscreen is the secret!

  3. It is never too early to take care of yourself to avoid looking and feeling old early.  As much as possible, I avoid getting to stressed out.  I also try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, though there are times I get tempted to eat unhealthily.

  4. I’m still working on eating a balanced diet and not sleeping on my side. I try to sleep on my back to help gravity out on my face.
