Changing what you eat every day is hard to do. Just like it’s a challenge for you, changing to natural cat food can be a challenge for your cats too. Just imagine how you’d feel if one day you came downstairs and none of your favorite foods were available any more. It would be a bit stressful. Thankfully, there are things that you can to do make changing to natural cat food easier for your pets.

Changing to Natural Cat Food

Switching cat foods can be challenging if you don’t do it the right way. We have switched our cats’ food several times throughout the years and sometimes it has gone more smoothly than others.  Since I have taken a natural pet care challenge, we are working on changing to natural cat food for all three of our cats.  Only Natural Pet is an all natural brand of pet products that is available from Pet360.com. Their products keep out chemicals, pesticides, preservatives, allergens, and anything artificial (flavors, colors, sweeteners, etc.). Only Natural Pet uses fresh meats, fresh fruits and veggies, free range and cage-free meats and no added antibiotics or hormones.

Here are a few tips that will help you make changing to natural cat food easier.

  • Start by adding a bit of the new food to your cat’s existing food. Start by ratio of 1:3 (one part new to three parts old) and slowly transition based on how much your cat seems to take to the new food.
  •  Be patient it can take a few weeks especially if your cat is older or picky like ours.
  • Make sure that the cats have a quiet, private spot to enjoy their food. This will help keep their stress level down.
  • Try hand feeding your cat a few pieces of the new food as a treat to begin with. For some reason, our cats think anything hand feed is to be gobbled up quickly.

We had the chance to try several items from Only Natural Pet including their natural cat food, treats and a few of the supplements. We are very impressed with the quality of the products and the selection on the website.  I love that there are some pet treats and foods that are suitable for both cats and dogs. This is a huge time and expense savings because you can get one food for both your pets. No need to order two separate ones or store two separate foods.

Only Natural Pet

Of course, there are products specific to both dogs and cats as well. You can find things like flea collars, shampoo and conditioner, cat litter and more. I love that they have a complete line of all natural solutions for your pets. I urge you to start changing to natural cat food today. Visit Pet360.com for more information on what they have to offer.

  1. We actually make our dog’s food homemade because of an illness he has.
If we did not we would use a natural food. Great to know the options that are available!

  3. That’s really smart to just switch out a bit at a time. I would totally have used up my bag and then made a cold turkey switch! Probably wouldn’t go over as well.

  4. We don’t have any pets but if we did I would treat the same as I treat ourselves. This sounds like a great product, all natural is the way to go.

  7. I never thought about how switching my pet’s food could be disturbing to him. It makes sense. Adding a bit of the new food to the familiar one is a good idea. And you’re right about our kitties liking to eat out of our hands. They think they are getting something sneaky.

  8. Seriously what is it with pets thinking food is something special just because you hand feed it to them. Our pets do that too. Dog/cat food is suddenly a “treat.” It’s so funny.

  10. I do not have cats, but I have fond memories of hand feeding infant kittens when their mom abandoned them when i was younger. I think in the future, I’d love to get a Persian cat.

  12. We try to do natural food for our pets, at least corn free always and try to be grain free entirely. It’s tough because one of our cats has to be on a special urinary tract diet.

  17. We have some of the Only Natural Pet treats for dogs and cat. I love that I can use the same product for both of our pets because the Cat is always in the dog’s treats all the time anyway. SO this just helps us feel better that it is safe for him.
