Easy Homemade Cranberry Sauce Made With Honey
As long as I can remember, cranberry sauce meant that purple stuff that slides out of the can in one big piece. If you’re used to buying this from the grocery store for your Thanksgiving dinner, you should know that the ingredients in the most popular brand are: Cranberries, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Water, and Corn Syrup. Yes, twice. That’s a whole heck of a lot of corn syrup and GMOs.
You really don’t need to make cranberry sauce with high fructose corn syrup. You don’t even need to make it with granulated white sugar. This easy homemade cranberry sauce made with honey is a much more allergy friendly choice and it’s delicious! The fruit flavors really come through in this recipe.
Cranberries have natural pectin so there is no need to add any kind of pectin or gelatin to this recipe. It will firm up and gel naturally provided you do not overcook it. Overcooking it will break down the natural pectin so it doesn’t gel.

Easy Homemade Cranberry Sauce Made With Honey
You have got to try this easy homemade cranberry sauce made with honey! Try my homemade whole cranberry sauce recipe today.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole cranberries, fresh
- 1/8 cup orange juice
- 1/8 cup apple cider
- 1/2 cup local honey
Instructions
- Wash the cranberries and remove any that are bad.
- Put the orange juice, apple cider and honey in the large pot and bring it to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 5 minutes to let the flavors mix and the honey dissolve.
- Add the cranberries and cook only until they pop and it starts to thicken - no more than 15 minutes.
- Spoon it into a mold if you'll be using one or pour it into a bowl and allow to set for 6 hours.

Can you put it in jars, hot water bath and preserve it like jam?
No idea. Sorry I have never tried it.
I’ve never made homemade cranberry sauce before but I am going to this year and every year on I’m sure! I really like how their is no extra ingredients.

It never occurred to me to use honey in place of white sugar. I love homemade cranberry relish or sauce with my turkey any time of year. Do you think it would break down the pectin if I also added crushed walnuts and chopped apples like I do from my recipe? I love it a bit crunchy, but like the idea of honey instead of al the white sugar.
I’m sure adding nuts and apples would work as long as they were chopped well. It really does have amazing flavor.
Growing up you couldn’t pay me to try more than a taste on the tip of my tongue. I hated cranberry sauce, but every Thanksgiving I dried just a tad. Well, it’s true that your tastes change over the years because now it is one of my favorite things. I’m going to have to try this recipe this year, thanks.
