Rose Hip Tea Recipe for Stomach Upsets
A rose hip or rose haw is the fruit of a rose, generally a wild rose. Rose hips start to form after the successful pollination of flowers in spring or early summer and then they ripen in late summer through autumn.
You can use fresh rose hips for jams and jellies and syrups but I hadn’t found any recipes for using dried rose hips which is what I had.
What are rose hips?
As I mentioned, the rose hip is actually the fruit of the rose. They are all edible so you can use whichever rosehip you have available.
The tastiest ones that are usually harvested for teas are the hips from the dog rose (rosa canina). Birds and other animals enjoy them too so be sure to leave a few on your rose bush for them.
What is rose hip tea good for?
After doing some research, I learned that rose hips are very high in Vitamin C, however, after drying them, they lose much of that benefit. I did learn that many people use them for upset stomachs so I decided to create a rose hip tea recipe for stomach upsets.
Unlike green tea, rose hip tea has no caffeine. So, you can drink a cup before bed.
What else can I add to this tea?
From experience, I know that peppermint is also good for helping upset stomachs. I had dried peppermint on hand as well so I mixed the two together to create this Rose Hip Tea Recipe. I added a slice of fresh lime to boost the Vitamin C content since we can all use a little bit more Vitamin C in our lives.
This is a great way to deal with stomach upsets that is all-natural. The tea has a nice citrus, mint taste. If you prefer yours to be sweet, you can always add a bit of stevia to it or even honey.
Do you use herbal teas to help you feel better?

How do you make rose hip tea?
Just follow the simple directions in my rose hip tea recipe to make this at home. You can store it in a jar with a tightly fitting lid and use it as you need it. Just be sure to keep it out of direct sunlight. It should last for quite a while in a cool, dark cupboard.

I used to see so many rose hip plants when I lived in Sweden for a while! They use them for almost every use!
I can’t wait to learn a few more uses!
I have never tried Rose Hips in tea. I do use them to burn in my potpourri burner or to decorate with.
Oh that sounds like fun too, Amy!
This sounds like a great herbal remedy. I love tea, but have never tried rose hip tea.
I hope you have a chance to try it, Anne.
I think almost any kind of tea is good for easing an upset stomach. I wonder how bad it is if you put too much sugar in it though…
I definitely wouldn’t add a lot of sugar to this one, Scott.
Rosehips are very good, not only a wonderful tea but a very good side dish as well.
I can’t wait to try them in a few new ways!
Thanks for sharing this post. Great!
Always glad to share, Alexis!
How interesting, I never knew rose hips could help an upset stomach. I am big on loose leaf teas, but I’ve never tried making my own.
Thanks, Jenna. I love making my own teas. There are so many great combinations!
