Cranberry Stove Top Potpourri Recipe
So many of the air fresheners I see in the store use artificial fragrances. Those aren’t good for my family or my pets to inhale.
By using a natural homemade cranberry stove top potpourri recipe, I can have all the yummy scents without worries about what I’m inhaling.
What makes this cranberry stove top potpourri recipe a bit different is that it uses fresh ingredients. Many potpourris you buy in the store have been dried and some of them have preservatives or chemicals added to them so they stay good.
These ingredients are fresh from the grocery store. You simply add them to a pot of water on the stove and turn it on to simmer for a few hours.
Materials:
- Slices of orange, tangerine, clementine or other citrus fruit
- Cranberries
- Cinnamon sticks
- Star of anise, cloves, ginger or other whole spices
- Fir branches
- Pot
- Water
- Stove

Can it be re-use next day? How long will it take? Days, weeks,???
You can continue to simmer it as long as it has scent. How long it lasts depends on how long you simmer it. It should last for several days. Store it in the refrigerator when you are not simmering it.
I have never made my own potpourri! This is something I will have to try!
It really is easy to do!
I love your suggestion on how to give this as gifts and know a lot of friends that would enjoy receiving this. Thanks for the great idea.
Glad to share, Grace!
I see cranberries are the food of the week on The World’s Healthiest Foods website I follow, and you have the same idea. The anise would smell so good and reminds me of the anise cookies I sometimes make at Christmas. I once had a simmering potpourri bowl you plugged in and added liquid potpourri but I like this better and I can use my (cheaper) gas stove.
It’s definitely the time of year to use cranberries!
