Madagascar Vanilla Coconut Body Scrub
Coconut oil leaves my hands feeling so soft and smooth. An added benefit is that coconut oil can also help improve the lipid content of your skin. I chose Madagascar vanilla as the scent in this coconut body scrub because it is the most sought after variety of vanilla available.
The scent is much more aromatic than other types of vanilla beans which means I can enjoy this Madagascar Vanilla Coconut Body Scrub even more.
Madagascar vanilla beans are processed using a curing method that results in beans with a higher moisture content. As vanilla beans dry out, the essential oils have dried out and this results in less scent and flavor, and (in my opinion) an inferior bean. Always choose Madagascar vanilla and vanilla beans.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of sugar (I used sucunat because it’s coarser.)
- 1/3 cup epsom salts
- 1/2 cup extra virgin coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon Madagascar vanilla
Directions:
- Mix the sugar and the epsom salts in a bowl.
- Add the Madagascar vanilla.
- Add the coconut oil and combine till mixed.
- Store in a Mason jar with a lid between uses.
To use, place about a nickel sized amount of the Madagascar Vanilla Coconut Body Scrub into one hand and rub thoroughly over both hands. Rinse off with warm water.

I wish I could smell this body scrub…….I bet it’s heavenly! 🙂
I really love it, Debra!
We’re looking forward to streaming the new Madagascar special on Netflix this holiday, but I bet the tween would love making this for a pamper session too! It’s hard for me to connect with her cartoons and shows so this would be a great way to do so and still be ‘cool.’
Definitely true, Jenna. Tweens and teens are hard some days.
I just made several products for skin care using coconut oil. I will have to try this one as well – my skin is not loving winter so I am desperate to find thing stat work.
Winter is so hard on my skin. I totally understand.
I bet that smells divine. I love all kinds of sugar scrubs.
It really does, Debi. Great way to relax.
Oh my goodness, I just love your clever tie-in to the Madagascar movies. Funny! We just saw the new show pop up in our Netflix feed, and we’re going to give it a watch tonight. I think my two year old is going to love it! I didn’t know that about Madagascar vanilla beans being moister; thank you for the great tip, and the great recipe for the sugar scrub!
Thanks so much, Alena. Hope you have a chance to try it.
