Back to School Teacher Survival Kit DIY
I’m starting to get excited for back to school time! Our kids go back to school at the end of August so I have a few more weeks to get organized and prepared. I’ve already gotten that HUGE stack of papers in the mail that I have to fill out every year.
It seems like every year there are a few more forms added to the stack. We need to give permission for the nurse to give the kids a cough drop and for our child to use the computer and for a dozen other things. Scroll down for the teacher survival kit printable.
My kids have had some amazing teachers throughout the years. I cannot imagine what a thankless job it is to teach kids. I know it’s not something that I could do … ever. So, I decided that this year I would put together a few Back to School Teacher Survival Kits as part of a QVC DIY Challenge I was asked to participate in.
I was sent the Aladdin Set of Four 20 oz Insulated Mason Jar Tumblers from QVC to work with (QVC Item #K39471. Approximately $33.25).
These tumblers are on sale RIGHT NOW for a much lower price on Amazon.
I decided to collect a few things I thought our teachers might appreciate to put in the Insulated Mason Jar Tumblers. If you know the gender of the teacher, you could do a few more female or male ideas but I tried to stay in neutral territory since I wasn’t sure.
What to put in a teacher survival kit
Here are a few ideas that work for me:
- Sharpies, pens, pencils and erasers
- Boogie Wipes for snotty noses and dirty fingers
- Tissues because someone always has a runny nose
- Post-it pad for remembering all those things you have to do
- Emergen-C powder to stay healthy
So, just remove the top of the Insulated Mason Jar Tumblers and carefully fit in all of the goodies. Then, you can run lace or ribbon around the edge of the lid if you like or tie it with raffia or curling ribbon.

Then print out this Back to School Survival Kit printable and cut out each star. Punch holes where they are marked and carefully slide the stars over the straws in the tumblers.
These Back to School Teacher Survival Kits will be a hit with your child’s teacher this year or drop one off at the front office or for the school nurse.

What a cute idea. Most of us think to give teachers a gift at the end of the year – but how nice to give one on the first day! I’m glad I found this at Motivational Monday today!
Thanks for stopping by, Susan!
It is so sweet to give the teachers survival kit. I love the contents of this kit and can’t wait to give some to my kids’ teachers next week.
Thank you! I hope that they like them!
I love this idea. I was cleaning out a drawer and found several pretty new mini sharpies that I forgot I purchased. Also some pretty post it notes, so I’m half way there with this project. I love back to school too.
Sharpies would work perfectly, Deb!
This is such a cool idea! I may have to make some of these for my education major friends who will be starting their jobs in the near future. Thanks for sharing!
