Make Your Own Magnets
If you’re looking for a simple craft for you or the kids, make your own magnets. It’s fun and easy! Let Dad display them on his file cabinet at work or display them in the kitchen so he’ll see them every day. You just need a few simple supplies.
Supplies
- Wooden shapes for the base
- Paint & paint brush
- Modge Podge for paper
- Scraps of pretty paper & cut outs of your choice
- Modge Podge Podgeable Shapes
- Magnet Backs
How to make your own magnets
1. Paint the front and sides of the wooden shapes in your choice of colors
2. Trace and cut pretty backing papers to the size of the Modge Podge Podgeable Shapes
3. Brush Modge Podge paper onto the front of the cut out pretty backing paper
4. Place the Modge Podge Podgeable Shape carefully on top of the cut out pretty backing paper
5. Place the smaller contrasting cut outs onto the front of the Modge Podge Podgeable shapes.
6. Brush on a layer of Modge Podge paper and let it dry.
7. Using Modge Podge glue the Modge Podge Shapeable onto the front of the dry, painted wooden shape.
8. Let it dry.
9. Apply the magnet to the back of the shape.
That’s all there is to it. This is a very easy to way make our own magnets. I made these for Father’s Day but you can choose any type of paper and cutouts and make these for any holiday or just for fun. Now that you know how to make your own magnets, why not try to make Dad a shirt from a dollar bill.

This is a great idea! Something I can do out on the patio with my grandkids and it won’t be too messy. I suppose it wouldn’t be too difficult to attach small seashells to the wooden shapes. The kids love to gather seashells when we go to the beach.
These are so cute and look like something children would even enjoy doing.
love this idea – really want to learn how to use Modge Podge

Thanks Cathie!
