Check out these three delicious yogurt parfait recipes using cereal! I love cereal for breakfast but I am not a fan of eating cereal in a bowl with milk. If you can relate to that, I have found a delicious alternative that lets you enjoy whole grains for breakfast without added milk. You can change up the ingredients to use whatever fruits are in season in your garden or your local famers’ market.
Yogurt Parfait Recipes
There are so many different types of yogurt parfait recipes but I wanted to share three of my favorites with you. You can change up the flavor of the yogurt you use to match the types of fresh fruit you add. Or, you can use plain Greek yogurt which is what I do. Greek yogurt is higher in protein count than traditional yogurt so it really helps you feel full longer.
Fruit yogurt parfait
A fruit yogurt parfait is one of my favorite breakfast ideas. One of the best things about breakfast parfait recipes is that you can make them ahead of time the night before. That way, you have a healthy, filling breakfast waiting for you when you get up with very little extra effort. If you plan on adding cereal to your yogurt parfait, I recommend that you wait until right before you eat it for maximum crunch and texture.
What I do is fill up several Mason jars with a layer of plain Greek yogurt and a layer of fresh cut fruit. Then I put the top on it and store it in the refrigerator. In the morning, I just add about a half cup of my favorite cereal to the top, and I’m ready to head out the door or head to my desk for work.
Here are three different yogurt parfait recipes using cereal for breakfast:
Blueberry Oat Crunch
1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup of Cheerios Oat Crunch
Tropical Mango Parfait
1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
1/2 cup of fresh mango
A sprinkling of shredded coconut
1/2 cup Cheerios Oat Crunch
Banana Crunch Vanilla Parfait
1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
1 sliced banana
A sprinkling of shredded coconut
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup Cheerios Oat Crunch
The best parfait yogurt is Greek yogurt because it is thicker and can stand up to added fruit and cereal. Now, don’t feel like you have to buy Greek yogurt in a bunch of different flavors. I always buy plain Greek yogurt and add my own extra fruit and flavors. You can add a few drops of vanilla extract for vanilla Greek yogurt. Or, add fresh or frozen fruit to make fruit flavored yogurt. You can even make your own yogurt if you like.
Best cereal for your parfait
Last time I went shopping at Walmart, I picked up a box of the new Cheerios Oat Crunch cereal to try in these yogurt parfait recipes. It’s made with Multi Grain Cheerios, topped with whole grain oats and real cinnamon. I love the texture and crunch that Cheerios Oat Crunch adds to my yogurt parfaits. You can see real oats on every piece of cereal. It’s the perfect choice for a hearty breakfast at home or on the go.
I love that the new Cheerios Oat Crunch has no artificial flavors or artificial colors. Plus, it has 9 vitamins and minerals and provides more than 1/2 the recommended daily whole grain per serving.**48 grams recommended daily. It’s also a good source of fiber with 4.5 grams of total fat per serving.
I hope you’ll try one of my breakfast parfait recipes. Make sure that you pick up a box of Cheerios Oat Crunch to top it. I love the unique taste and the crunch it adds to my breakfast.
