When money is tight, our own needs go to the end of the list. When we are short on time, we put off taking care of ourselves to look after others. Stay Healthy With a Busy Schedule
It would be great if we all had enough time in our day to do everything that needs to be done. I have a to-do list that’s a mile long, so I know that isn’t going to happen. While there are some things that we just have to do, like feed the family and go to work, there are probably a few things that we can put off — like shampooing the rug or making 10-dozen cookies for a class party.
My first bit of advice is to be gentle with yourself. You are not invincible. When a shortcut exists, take it! Buy readymade cookies, or at least choose a less labor-intensive recipe. You can toss a healthy meal in the slow cooker for dinner on your busiest days. Here are a few more tips that help me stay healthy with a busy schedule.
Take Time for You
Even on your busiest day, you can (and should) take 15 minutes just for you. That may mean a bubble bath at the end of the day. Or, it may mean a walk during lunch or a few minutes with a cup of herbal tea and a relaxing essential oil candle. Just make sure that you give yourself that time.
Eat Healthy Foods
Your body cannot operate properly if you don’t make healthy food choices. While you may be able to go a few days on coffee and donuts, I guarantee that eventually, your body is going to tell you that it’s not impressed. You don’t need to put hours into a healthy meal. There are shortcuts you can take. I pre-make a few of my Mason jar salads for busy lunches so I don’t turn to less-healthy options.
Get Enough Sleep
I know it’s tempting to stay up late or wake up early when you have a lot to do, but please don’t sacrifice sleep. Your body will thank you if you get at least 7 to 8 hours a night. A good night’s sleep will let your body reset itself, and you’ll feel much better when you wake up.
