Now that my daughter is 15, I’ve been teaching her to cook. She made this recipe earlier this afternoon and it was a huge treat. It looks like it takes so much more effort than it does.

We see this Simply Sensational Truffles recipe on the back of the Philadelphia Cream Cheese box every holiday season. I’m sure it’s a popular treat for people to make at Christmas time. It also looks very festive in a gift box or on a plate with Christmas cookies. So, if you’re looking for an easy homemade Christmas gift, these Kraft cream cheese truffles are perfect.
One of the reasons that we love this Simply Sensational Truffles recipe so much is that you can customize it any way you want. After you dip it in chocolate, you can roll it in chopped nuts, shredded coconut, sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, cocoa powder, crushed peppermint candies or anything else you can think of. If you like the Kraft oreo truffles recipe, why not try rolling these Kraft cream cheese truffles in crushed Oreo cookies? Or, you can leave them plain if you prefer.
What you need to make Simply Sensational Truffles
These Kraft cream cheese truffles are one of the easiest homemade candy recipes I’ve tried. You don’t need a lot of expensive flavorings and ingredients. Chances are that you probably have most of what you need at home already. I know that we always have Kraft cream cheese on-hand for our bagels for breakfast.
Double Boiler – You’ll want a double boiler to melt the baking chocolate that you dip your truffles in. It’s much easier to control the temperature this way. If you try to microwave it, you may end up with chocolate that isn’t smooth enough to dip in.
Electrix Mixer – You can certainly beat this by hand if you like. But, it’s so much easier to beat with an electric mixer. Or, if you have a stand mixer, you could certainly use that as well.
Wax Paper – After you dip the chocolates, you’ll want to set them on wax paper to solidify. The wax paper prevents them from sticking to the pan or plate. If you don’t have wax paper, you can use parchment paper as well. Try not to eat all of the Simply Sensational Truffles while you wait. It’s not easy!
Kraft Cream Cheese Truffles Recipe
So, one of the great parts of this Kraft cream cheese truffles recipe is that you can change out the type of chocolate you use. My husband loves dark chocolate and my daughter prefers white. When it’s close to the holidays, you might want to try red or green with natural food dyes. Or, if it’s Easter, try yellow. Or, use pink for Valentine’s Day. You can change the color of these Sensational Truffles to match the theme of your party decor. the possibilities are almost endless especially when you consider you can change the color of the sprinkles you use as well.
So, if you’re going to give these Simply Sensational Truffles as gifts, I really recommend you use the little truffle cups. They look cute and they keep the truffles from rolling all over the place. Then, you can package them in a candy box to give as a gift. You can just as easily stick a lollipop stick in the bottom and serve them like you would a cake pop.

- 2 1/2 pkg (20 squares) Semi-sweet baking chocolate, divided
- 1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- Melt 8 chocolate squares as directed on pkg. We use a double boiler.
- Beat the cream cheese with mixer until creamy.
- Blend in the melted chocolate.
- Refrigerate until firm.
- Shape into 36 balls. We only got about 20.
- Melt remaining chocolate.
- Dip truffles into the chocolate.
- Place on wax paper covered cookie sheet.
- You can decorate with chopped nuts or sprinkles at this point if you want. Refrigerate 1 hour.
Do not turn the heat up on the chocolate too high when melting or the chocolate will get lumpy.
