Clean drinking water isn’t something that I think about that often. I turn on the faucet and it comes out. It’s there for a cold drink after a good workout. It’s there to wash the dishes after dinner and to brush my teeth with at night. The lack of clean drinking water isn’t a problem that’s part of my life but I know that it’s a problem for many other people. It’s a problem that I feel more people should know about, and one that I hope more people will want to help change. If you remember, last year I shared about P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program with a fun experiment. I’ve been asked to partner with P&G again to let people know that they can do this experiment themselves.

Through the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program (CSDW), they have worked with more than 150 partners to provide clean water to children and families in developing countries. Over the last eleven years, they have provided more than 9 billion liters of clean drinking water, helping to improve the health, education and economic opportunities for those who need it most. We have committed to delivering 15 billion liters of clean water globally by 2020.

If you remember the post I did last year, you’ll see that we started with clean water from my tap. Then we added dirt and used the Purifier of Water packet from P&G to make it clean and drinkable. This packet is a powder technology invented by P&G laundry scientists that changes dirty water into clean drinking water. More than a decade ago, they created the non-profit P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program, which sends out these packets through emergency relief efforts, NGO partners and governments in more than 75 different countries. Over the past ten years, P&G has invested tens of millions of dollars to provide clean drinking water to people around the world.

Today, I wanted to let you know that you can buy these packets yourself to do this experiment with your children or your community to help raise awareness of this problem.  This would make a fun activity to do with the kids during your spring break from school or as part of a homeschool activity.
