Peppermint Mocha Latte Recipe
I’m waiting on one super slow Amazon order that I hope arrives today. Most of my baking is done and in the freezer. I have a few final things to bake since Christmas dinner is at my home this year.
All in all, I’m ahead of time compared to last year. Normally, I am running around on Christmas Eve day picking things up and finishing my wrapping on Christmas Eve.
I have decided that since I don’t have to run around like a crazy person today, I am going to take some time to watch some of my favorite Christmas movies.
I’ve decided to enjoy my favorite Peppermint Mocha Latte Recipe while I enjoy The Polar Express.
The Polar Express is about a little boy who is starting to wonder if Santa Claus really does exist. He boards a magical train that is heading to the North Pole along with other children.
While he is there, he gets a wonderful gift that only people who really still believe can enjoy. This is one of my very favorite Christmas movies.
What goes into a peppermint mocha?
If you buy this at your favorite coffee shop, peppermint mocha is likely to include chocolate syrup, peppermint syrup, and coffee or espresso.
That makes for a pretty high sugar content coffee beverage. So, if you want to make a healthier version at home, my recipe will help.
It’s very easy to make your own Peppermint Mocha Latte. No need to run to the local coffee store. Just start with a tablespoon of cocoa, some sugar or stevia and a drop of peppermint extract.
Add hot coffee and stir. Then pour in the frothed milk. I use a milk frother but you can simply heat the milk in a pan and froth with a whisk. It just takes longer. Top with whipped cream and crushed candy cane and enjoy!
What’s in a peppermint mocha latte?
The addition of the word latte simply means with milk. So, this peppermint mocha latte is made with steamed milk in addition to the ingredients that would go into a peppermint mocha.
And, if you want to, you can top the whole thing off with homemade whipped cream and a few curls of chocolate or crushed peppermint candy like I do. Here’s an easy way to crush up those candy canes.
Is their caffeine in a peppermint mocha?
I am all about the caffeine. So, yes there is caffeine in this peppermint mocha recipe. I use regular coffee which has caffeine in it.
If you are concerned about the caffeine, you can make this with decaf coffee. But, be aware that decaf still has a small amount of caffeine.
Check out my video to learn how to make your own homemade whipped cream. I cannot tell you how much better this peppermint mocha latte tastes when you use your own homemade whipped cream.
There is just no comparison to the stuff you buy at the store.
If you want to share a hot beverage with the kids while you’re watching a Christmas movie, simply leave out the hot coffee and cocoa powder and substitute hot cocoa.
Have you ever tried making your own hot chocolate? It’s very easy and it’s a lot less expensive than those little packets of hot chocolate at the store.
S, you can find a Peppermint Mocha at Starbucks or McDonalds. But, this version of a peppermint mocha latte is a lot healthier and so much less expensive than buying one. Plus, you can make it all year round and not only during the Christmas holidays.
More beverage recipes
I absolutely love hot beverages in the winter so here are a few more of my favorite hot beverage drinks. If you want one that is not caffeinated, try the mulled apple cider. If you love coffee as much as I do, try the coffee recipes.
