Fruit Juice Gummy Recipe With No Refined Sugar

Last Updated on January 22, 2023 by Ellen Christian

I’ll let you in on a secret. I love gummy candy. This fruit juice gummy recipe has no refined sugar and no artificial colors. I love the holidays and all of the fun themed snacks and desserts. But, I try to avoid artificial colors as much as possible. And, as a diabetic, my husband tries not to snack on things that are high in sugar.

Fruit Juice Gummy Recipe

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, this fruit juice gummy recipe is a fun green colored snack that doesn’t have artificial colors in it. The green color comes from the juice that is used in the recipe.

If you’re looking for a gummy bear recipe, you can use this recipe and pour it into a silicone bear mold. This recipe uses a silicone shamrock mold because it’s almost St. Patrick’s Day. You can find the mold used here at Michaels. Or, you can get this one and make robots and dinosaurs.

Do homemade gummy bears have to be refrigerated?

I can’t speak to every fruit juice gummy recipe out there. But, these gummy snacks should be refrigerated after they are made. If you serve them immediately, it’s not a problem. But, if you want to make them ahead of time, you will need to refrigerate them until you serve them.

How long do homemade gummy bears last?

Well, mine last about 15 minutes until they get eaten. But, if you store them in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed container, they should stay good for about five days. Honestly, they won’t last anywhere near that long though.

So, if you’re looking for a pectin gummy recipe, this is not it. This recipe uses beef gelatin powder. Beef gelatin is good for you and has been shown to have a variety of health benefits. There probably isn’t enough beef gelatin in these gummies to amount to anything. But, you won’t find any pectin in this recipe.

If you like homemade chewy fruit snacks (or the kids do), this is a very easy recipe to make that has no refined sugar. It does use honey. I would look for raw local honey so you get the full benefit. But, any type of honey will work.

What type of juice should I use to make gummies?

This recipe uses Naked Green Machine juice. You should be able to find it at your local grocery store. Or, you can buy it on Amazon as I linked to it. It’s a boosted juice that has no added sugars. It has juice from apples, mango, pineapple, banana, and kiwi.

And, it’s boosted with spinach, kale, spirulina and a number of other good for you ingredients. It’s not a super sweet juice and even with the honey, these will not be super sweet like candy. They are a lightly sweet, healthy green colored snack.

  1. I am looking for a recipe that has a long shelf life at room temperatures, this looks promising but it seems like you make many different gummies. Any suggestions?

    • Most homemade gummies have no preservatives so it’s not likely they would stay good at room temperature. I will certainly keep my eyes open for one that may work. Thank you for stopping by!
