Buffalo Chicken Chaffle Recipe for Low Carb Waffles

Buffalo Chicken Chaffle

So, if you saw the title and wondered what a chaffle is, let me explain. A chaffle is basically a waffle that is made with only cheese and eggs. This recipe is slightly different because it uses a low carb flour (almond flour). One of the problems with chaffles is that they are not that sturdy. So, if you want to put them in the toaster it doesn’t work well.

Traditional chaffles taste mostly like eggs and cheese. And, that doesn’t really taste like a waffle. By adding almond flour, this Buffalo Chicken Chaffle recipe tastes more like the waffles you’re used to eating.

How many chaffles does this make?

This Buffalo Chicken Chaffle recipe makes four mini chaffles or one larger Belgian style chaffle. If you want to make a larger batch, you can just multiply the recipe. This is perfect for one or two people. So, if the rest of the family is enjoying waffles and you want an alternative, you can make this for yourself.

What type of chicken should I use?

This is the perfect recipe to use up leftover chicken. You want to add shredded chicken to your chaffle batter. You could use rotisserie chicken if you have that leftover. Or, you can use leftovers from dinner the night before. Just be sure that it is shredded and not just chopped for the best consistency. You will love the way this shredded chicken chaffle comes out!

What kind of cheese is best?

This recipe uses cheddar cheese, mozzarella, and blue cheese to top the waffles with. But, if you prefer a parmesan chicken chaffle, you can certainly change it up a little bit. But, try to keep the measurements the same so that the Buffalo Chicken Chaffle comes out with the same consistency.

What’s the best chaffle waffle maker?

If you want to make this Buffalo Chicken Chaffles recipe, it works best if you have a one-person waffle maker if you want mini waffles. This one works perfectly. It’s very important that you use a non-stick waffle maker. Otherwise, the cheese in the recipe will stick and make a horrible mess. You can use this one for things like paninis and sandwiches as well as waffles.

What should you serve with a chaffle?

This Buffalo Chicken Chaffle recipe is intended to be a meal in itself. You can serve a side salad with it if you want more vegetables. Or, you can serve fresh fruit or a fruit salad.

What should I top my Buffalo Chicken Chaffle with?

We’ve added feta, celery, and hot sauce to these chaffles. But, they would be delicious with a slice of avocado or even a little bit of low carb Ranch dressing. Or, you can eat them as-is with no topping at all.
