Back to School Command Center

Do you need a back to school command center? Staying organized during the school year can be challenging.  There is a constant stream of paper and information coming home with the kids from school. We have calendars, lunch menus, upcoming projects, fundraisers, sports physical forms, team sports practice calendars and so on.  In the past, I have tried to keep track of all of this by tacking it to the front of the refrigerator. The only problem is that I cannot find my refrigerator any longer let alone find a specific piece of paper on my refrigerator.

I decided that before school started again I needed to create a back to school command center so I could find all of the information I needed quickly.  I received a few really neat products from the Home Collection by Post-it Brand and Scotch Brand that are available exclusively at The Container Store.  As soon as I saw them, I realized they would be perfect for a back to school command center.  The Home Collection line includes more than 15 new products and simple solutions to tackle everything from reminders and to-do lists to family schedule planning to display children’s artwork and fit-to-frame items at home. Check out this post for more ideas on how to get organized for back to school.

The first thing that I did was remove everything from the front of the refrigerator.  I recycled anything that was expired or that I no longer needed for this upcoming school year. After that, I cleaned the front of the refrigerator well with vinegar and water to get off all of the fingerprints and smudges.

Here are a few products you can use to make your own back to school command center. Basically, you need restickable tape, several display frames, a magnetic pen holder or two, a magnetic utility pocket and several strong magnets. I like these because they don’t scratch up the refrigerator.

I don’t have room on the counter for these things and I don’t want to drill holes in the wall.  Restickable products are the perfect solution. I added this fun Dr. Seuss Quote Printable to encourage the kids to be who they are.

  1. This looks great! Perfect Idea to just make the center on your fridge – it’s where most of the stuff will wind up anyway!!
