How to Have an Allergy Free Summer

Last Updated on September 12, 2020 by Ellen Christian

I’ve been trying to figure out how to have an allergy free summer and I was starting to feel overwhelmed. We love picnics, barbecues, afternoons at the beach and entertaining friends and family, but how do you deal with the allergies? So many people in our family seem to have food intolerances from gluten to dairy and that can make it challenging when you have a get-together that includes food. This post has been sponsored but the story is my own.

When we go to a get-together, we generally bring something along with us to contribute. Recently that’s become more of an issue as people have been identified with food intolerances and allergies. I wanted to bring something everyone could enjoy and not have to worry about dealing with allergies. We used to bring a pasta salad or some sort of baked good but then you have to deal with gluten and dairy.

This year, I’ve discovered a new allergy friendly treat that I can bring along to summer events. Perfectly Free™ is a delicious, frozen treat that is free of the Big 8 Food Allergens (dairy-free, soy-free, wheat-free, peanut-free, egg-free, fish-free, shellfish-free, tree nut-free). It comes in four yummy flavors so there is one that everyone will enjoy: Perfectly Free™ Cocoa & Vanilla, Perfectly Free™ Salted Caramel & Vanilla, Perfectly Free™ Cherry & Vanilla, and Perfectly Free™ Blueberry & Vanilla.

I love fruit flavored desserts but my husband and the kids are all about decadent chocolate and caramel. Perfectly Free™ treats come in a box of eight. I found them at our local Shaws Supermarket. They have a soft outer layer and a coconut cream center. One of the best things about them is that they are only 25-35 calories each. I can have one of each variety and still be right around 100 calories. I love that there is a delicious summer treat that is allergy friendly for the kids and healthy for the adults.

You know I had to sample one of each of the flavors. It’s so hard to decide which one I enjoyed the most. If I had to choose just one, I would say that the cherry was my favorite. I loved the natural taste of the soft, outer shell and the creamy vanilla center was the perfect match. It was the perfect bite-sized treat to cool you down on a hot day. Find them at your local grocery store and try them today.
