Paleo Apple Butter Recipe
One of my favorite memories from when I was younger is going apple picking. I love everything about it including the smell of fall, climbing up and down the ladder to get the apples, and the delicious, crisp taste of your first fall apple.
Once you get back from apple picking with your bushel or two of apples, the question starts to be “What the heck am I going to do with all these apples?”
Is this apple butter keto?
Many apple butter recipes use apple cider. Those following the paleo diet try to avoid drinking juices due to the high sugar content and processing.
This Paleo Apple Butter recipe doesn’t require apple cider and instead uses apple cider vinegar. This means that it’s also OK for the keto diet.
What I love most about this Paleo Apple Butter recipe (besides that it’s good for you) is the fact that I can make it in the slow cooker. I love it when I find things that are good for you don’t take hours to do.
If you’re not following the Paleo diet, you can enjoy this on toast for breakfast. It’s great by the spoonful right out of the jar or stirred into plain Greek yogurt.
Tips for making paleo apple butter
- If your recipe is not reducing quickly enough, you can try removing the lid to let more of the water evaporate.
- Taste the apple mixture partway through the cooking process and adjust the spices as needed.
- If you want to make your apple butter smoother, you can use an immersion blender.
- You can store this apple butter in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Or, freeze it for up to six months for longer storage.

I would love to try this, this fall. I enjoy making jams/jellies, and apple butter. Usually I do it on stove which is time consuming and makes a big mess. This looks like it would work a whole lot better.
It’s definitely much easier!
Have you tried water bath canning this? I’d like to make a bunch for the holidays.
I haven’t but if you try it let me know how it goes!
