I have always loved to read. As far back as I can remember, I have had a book case full of books.  When my children were little, I always made sure that they had books.  I remember the little plastic bath books and the board books they used to chew on when they were little.  As they got older, they graduated to picture books and then chapter books.  It’s wonderful watching their love of reading continue even as young adults.

Interactive Storybook Apps

Interactive Storybook apps are a wonderful way to encourage your young child to develop a love of reading. If you remember, I reviewed Laura’s Journey to the Stars a few weeks ago.  The author of that interactive storybook has now released another, Laura’s Star and the Dream Monster. Laura’s Star and the Dream Monster is an interactive storybook app that I know your child will fall in love with.

Laura’s brother, Tommy, wakes her up one night after having a bad dream that the Dream Monsters stole his protect me dog. When he woke up, his dog was gone. Laura tries to reassure him but he’s very upset. Laura goes to Tommy’s room to look for his protect me dog but she cannot find him. Laura decides they need to search for him in Tommy’s dreams. With the help of her star, his bed transforms into a boat and they visit the City of Dreams. Laura and Tommy explore the City of Dreams to find Tommy’s protect me dog.

On each page of the interactive storybook, the story is read out loud.  You move from page to page by touching a button. Each page has shapes and objects you can interact with.  When you tap the drum, you hear it play, When you touch the star, it shimmers.  There are a variety of puzzles and games to play throughout the story as well. You can guide their bed around obstacles on their travel and match the right key to the right lock to get into the Dream Monster’s room. There are so many cute things on each page that it will definitely keep your child engaged.

  1. I still love interactive books. You never outgrow wonderful and some of my best memories were reading along with my girls to them :)

  2. I love these books, now that my youngest is getting older, we have a few on our devices but without the different languages. I like how they have the Spanish option, I'd love to get some and have her read the book in both languages and learn some Spanish at the same time!
