Wondering how to dress your cat for Halloween? For Halloween, I’m sharing these Happy Halloween wishes from our cats. Years ago, when my kids were little, I used to have so much fun shopping for their Halloween costumes each year. I “oohed” and “aahed” over the little princess and cowboy costumes. And, I stocked up on orange plastic pumpkins and Halloween candy. I snapped photo after photo of the kids in their costumes before we went out trick or treating.

How to Dress Your Cat for Halloween
Now that my kids are 16 and 20, I don’t get to dress them up for Halloween any longer. I still find myself wandering through the costume aisle at the store remembering when they were that young. Finally! I’d have a chance to relive the days when my kids were little. Now to find a pet cat Halloween costume they’d wear.
Our cats and how they tolerated cat clothes
We have three cats that are part of our family. Colors is the matriarch of the family at ten years old. She is a beautiful tortoiseshell cat we adopted years ago from the Humane Society. We wanted to find easy cat Halloween costumes that the cats would tolerate wearing. Not all cats will appreciate wearing a costume, hat, scarf or other types of cat clothes.
Heather is seven and the shyest of our cats. We adopted her from a friend when they moved and couldn’t bring her with them. She has gorgeous shiny, black fur. And, she tends to hide quickly when she’s in an unfamiliar situation. We think she will have the hardest time wearing any Halloween cat stuff. We thought she’d want nothing to do with dressing your cat for Halloween.
Scout is our baby and the only boy in the house. He’s about four and we adopted him from the Humane Society as well. He’s definitely the trouble maker of the family. But, he also tends to be the most flexible when it comes to changes to our routine. When you dress your cat for Halloween, you may have an easier time with a younger cat.
None of our cats have ever been dressed up as anything before so I wasn’t exactly sure how they’d take to it. Heather and Colors wanted to be pumpkins this year. They felt the orange color of the pumpkin would really compliment their beautiful fur. Scout wanted nothing to do with cute costumes for cats. He felt a boy cat should be something more distinguished like a vampire.

When you are trying to decide how to dress your cat for Halloween, please be sure to use a cat costume rather than a costume intended for a dog or a child. The costume needs to be safe and comfortable for your cat to wear. And, it’s important that there aren’t any small decorations that they might chew on or be hurt by.
Here are a few options that your cats might enjoy when it comes to cat clothes:
Haloween Treats for Cats
While I was checking out the pet Halloween costumes at Walmart, I decided the cats needed a Halloween treat. Of course, you can’t buy cats Halloween candy but I did notice that Sheba cat food had a buy 6 get 1 free coupon on their website and decided a premium cat food treat would be something they’d enjoy.
It’s important to me that we feed our cats a premium diet so they stay healthy and active. After they all dressed up in their Halloween costumes, it was time to enjoy their Sheba Cat Food. They all loved it and Scout and Heather even shared!
Now that you know how to dress your cat for Halloween, which costume will you buy? You can search for Petco cat costumes if you cannot find the type you like at Walmart or on Amazon.
