Grilled Sandwich Recipe – Strawberry, Brie, Chocolate and Walnut

Last Updated on April 28, 2021 by Ellen Christian

Strawberries and chocolate just naturally go together but I’m not sure that combination actually qualifies as a good lunch by itself. As I was wandering through Pinterest, I came across a recipe on How Sweet It Is that inspired me to make my Grilled Sandwich recipe –  Strawberry, Brie, Chocolate and Walnut.  Since I absolutely HATE dark chocolate, I decided to use milk chocolate in my sandwich. Roasting the strawberries seemed like a lot of work and I had just come inside from discovering that the chickens at all the lettuce in my garden, so I decided sliced fresh strawberries would work just fine for me.   Walnuts and chocolate just naturally go together so I had to sprinkle on a few California walnuts onto the top of my sandwich as well.

I felt completely decadent eating a sandwich that had chocolate and strawberries in it.  The Brie and the chocolate got all soft and melty.  The butter made the outside of the sandwich crispy.  The Driscoll’s strawberries and California walnuts were the perfect addition to the other flavors in this sandwich. My husband looked at me like I had lost my mind when he saw me making a sandwich with chocolate in it but wow was it good!

Now that you’ve seen my recipe for Brunch Week, take a look at some of the others. Or, why not try my open faced tuna melt.

  2. My 14 year old and my S.O. would melt if I could go to the store and bring the ingredients back to make this for breakfast!! I might just do that! Thanks for the inspiration!

    • I made it and loved how it turned out. I bought a loaf of french bread and added prosciutto to appeal to the masses. It was a hit. I might just skip the family dinner and have that again. Oh, but I need breakfast for tomorrow. Darn! I’ll save the balance of the ingredients to make another serving for 4 tomorrow.

        • I just stumbled upon this again from when I made it by browsing my old Instagram posts. I can’t believe I had forgotten about it. This is definitely one of my fave recipes. It’s about that time to make it again. For some reason, I’ve had a craving for bananas lately. A few thin slices of banana might make a great addition, too!

  10. Never would’ve thought of that combination, but can see how it would work. I’m not very adventurous with my grilled sandwiches.

  11. What a delicious combination! Strawberries and chocolate are made for each other, but the addition of brie and walnuts rounds it all off nicely.

  12. That sounds beyond delicious. I’ll bet it would kill with pear too. I’ll have to pick up some brie when I shop tomorrow and give it a try.

  15. Oh Wow! This is some sandwich! I can just taste the walnuts and chocolate with that hint of tart from the strawberries. It’s probably like taking a bite, thinking it’s enough because there is so much flavor, and then finding yourself taking another bite!
