I tend to be chief cook and bottle washer in my family. That means that I need to know a little bit about a lot of different things. While we do hire people to do the complicated things, I try to take care of the simple repairs and upgrades on my own. Since the weather is nice, summer time is the time I tackle most easy home repairs. I am a member of the Netflix StreamTeam.

How to Fix a Hole in the Wall
When my son took off his work boot and kicked it toward the wall instead of putting it down carefully, it managed to leave a hole in the wall. I’ve been staring at that hole in the wall for a year and decided it was time to fix it. I’ve always loved watching shows like Holmes Inspection where home owners find their dream homes and take on renovations and repairs so I knew that this was something I could fix myself.
Materials you need:
- Self adhesive mesh patch
- Lightweight joint compound
- Drywall knife
- Fine grain sandpaper
Directions:
- Remove any loose pieces of drywall from around the hole.
- Place a thin layer of lightweight joint compound around the hole.
- Place the self adhesive mesh patch over the hole and press down.
- Use the drywall knife to cover the patch with lightweight joint compound in a crisscross pattern, feathering the edges. Let dry and apply more coats as needed.
- Sand smooth and paint.
Now that you know how to fix a hole in the wall, take a few minutes, turn on Netflix and tune into the next episode of Holmes Inspection. You never know,. You may be inspired to do another easy DIY home repair!
