My Honest Weight Loss Journey and Inspiration

Last Updated on November 22, 2023 by Ellen Christian

When I was asked to partner with Z Living to tell you all about their newest show, The Big Fat Truth, I  thought it was the perfect opportunity to share my honest weight loss journey with you. I’ve been writing about healthy living for quite a while, but I’ve realized I probably never actually shared my entire story with my readers. I’m hoping that you find it helpful and inspirational if you’re struggling with weight loss yourself.

I never had a problem with my weight until after my daughter was born. I had difficulty losing the baby weight I put on, and after I had my second child, I gained even more weight that didn’t want to come off.  I would stick to exercising for about a week, and then give up because I just didn’t have the time.

I would limit what I ate to diet foods and salads with the hope that six diet sodas, salad, and a hard boiled egg would fill me up and give me the energy to make it through the day.

Of course, it didn’t, and I got depressed and frustrated and turned to eating fast food and more diet sodas to somehow balance out my weight. After several years of this type of eating, I ended up getting sick which shouldn’t have surprised me. After seeing a naturopath, I was put on a very restrictive diet to get my immune system back under control. And, I lost weight. My Honest Weight Loss Journey and Inspiration

But, after my immune system was under control again, I started splurging “just a little bit” to reward myself for a good day. Not too long after that, I found myself 40 pounds heavier than I wanted to be. After almost two years of Weight Watchers, I finally got back to where I needed to be.

But, I was ten pounds up and ten pounds down for years. Right now, give or take five pounds, I am right where I want to be. I don’t focus on a number on the scale any longer. My goal and how I judge my success is whether or not my size eight jeans are comfortable. They are.

During my weight loss and gain, I felt like everyone said they had the answer, but no one had tools that would actually work for me long term. I needed that motivation and inspiration to stick with it. You can see by my photos that my weight has been up and down over the years. The one at the top is where I am today. That’s why I’m so excited to tune into The Big Fat Truth on the Z Living Network.

The Big Fat Truth addresses the real reasons people struggle with weight and gives them the tools and the optimism they need to transform their lives. Using problem-solving and motivational skills, award-winning producer JD Roth takes on the challenge to help save the lives of our greatest unsung heroes.

  1. I have followed you forever and dont think I have ever read how you lost the weight. You always have looked nice to me, but then too, I dont much notice size as I notice an attitude of kindness.
