Have you given any thought to enjoying life as you age? The last few years have brought a lot of changes in my life. My health has changed after hitting menopause. My family structure has changed as the kids (now adults) have moved back home with their significant others. And, my job has changed now that I work for myself. Enjoying life gets pushed to the bottom of my list some days.

Enjoying Life As You Age
But, does enjoying life have to be harder as you get older? No, it doesn’t. Finding enjoyment in life should be a priority whether you’re welcoming your first child to your family or welcoming back your adult children who need support. Our lifestyles and challenges may be different, but enjoyment still needs to be a top priority, and that starts with maintaining a healthy lifestyle – both mentally and physically. In a recent survey commissioned by Osteo Bi-Flex, the brand reveals that, “a majority of Americans ages 50+ find themselves with a case of what is commonly referred to as “FOMO,” or Fear of Missing Out, due to concerns about joint comfort”. So, how am I avoiding FOMO and maintaining a healthy lifestyle?
1. Focus on Now
It’s easy to get caught up in worrying about things that haven’t happened yet. This is one of my biggest challenges, but I’m trying to remember to live in the now. Find something each day that brings you joy and try not to worry about the challenges that may occur tomorrow. Try to take the time to enjoy the special moments in your life like the flowers your husband brings home from the grocery store or the fact that the kids made dinner or did the dishes.
2. Do what you Love
Sure, you still have to do the dishes and go to work, but take time to do what you love each day. Feed the birds. Go for a walk around the neighborhood. Enjoy your favorite yoga routine. Read a good book. Taking just a few minutes each day to reward yourself with something that makes you happy can change your entire outlook. I’ve recently started taking Osteo B-Flex; their products help facilitate joint comfort, flexibility and movement*, so now I’m able to enjoy my favorite activities like yoga.
3. Be Mindful
Too often, we live our lives on autopilot without taking the time to think about what we’re doing. Slow down and be aware. Think about your words. Pay attention to what you’re doing. Live in the moment instead of rushing through the day to get to the next task you need to complete. Focus on what’s going on around you right now. Smell the roses, taste the fresh strawberries, and breathe in the fresh air.
4. Re-evaluate Your Thoughts
Getting older doesn’t mean you have to feel old. It doesn’t mean you have to give up that child-like awe and excitement that each new day brings you. Don’t be afraid to let your inner child shine through whether that means coloring in your favorite coloring book, lining your desk with action figures, or watching Saturday morning cartoons in your pajamas. Be a child no matter what your chronological age might be.
5. Make You a Priority
Aging does bring along challenges, so it’s important that you make taking care of yourself a priority. Focus on eating healthy, fresh foods and moving each day. Some days that’s a challenge as you age. Moving wasn’t always easy for me before I started taking Osteo Bi-Flex. Osteo Bi-Flex, in their latest survey reveals, “Approximately 73% of Americans ages 50+ who experience issues with joint comfort have admitted to skipping an outing or activity because they are concerned about their discomfort” – this really resonated with me. Even though I feel young and energetic in my mind, I’ve started taking Oste Bi-Flex, so I can continue to do the things I love with joint support on my side.* That is one of the reasons that I love Osteo Bi-Flex, they want to help individuals keep as physically active as they are mentally and have designed their products to do just that.
Osteo Bi-Flex® contains Joint Shield™, a proprietary blend that helps maintain your healthy joints.* Joint Shield™ exclusively features 5-LOXIN™ Advanced, a concentrated extract of Boswellia serrata herb which helps with occasional joint flare-ups.*
And, if you focus on following these tips, you may find that having a positive outlook is a little bit easier each day.

I agree that I have a FOMO due to joint issues. I am always being careful versus enjoying things. I like that

It’s hard not to be so over aware as you age, Shelley!
I need to practice more “self-care” – sometimes I get so busy with blogging and my day job, that self-care goes by the wayside. Thanks for the tips.
It really can be a challenge!
