Wondering about easy hot chocolate recipes? With the recent snow storm here in Vermont, I have had an awful lot of shoveling to do to clear the snow out of the duck and chicken coops and the driveway at our house. When I come back inside from all that shoveling, I am sore and cold. By that time of the day, I’ve already had all the coffee I’m supposed to have so I’ve been searching for easy hot chocolate recipes to try. Easy Hot Chocolate Recipes
This spiced hot chocolate recipe is a step above the plain hot chocolate that the kids enjoy. And, the touch of spice and bittersweet chocolate with whipped cream makes it an indulgence that I really need after all that snow shoveling.

What you need for this spiced hot chocolate recipe
Your favorite hot chocolate mix – You can really use any hot chocolate mix in this recipe. I prefer the one I linked to because the taste is amazing, and I trust the ingredients.
Chocolate shaver – You will need a chocolate shaver to get the nice curled pieces of chocolate on top of your hot cocoa.
Milk Frother – Rather than whipped cream, I prefer to put frothed milk on top of my hot chocolate. Or, you can be totally decadent and use steamed milk and then whipped cream.

Of course, if you want to, you can make your own hot chocolate from scratch instead of using an instant packet. It’s really all about how much time you have and what you like. I make a really decadent hot chocolate recipe that’s just like my grandmother used to make. Or, you can make hot chocolate mix as a gift in a jar and give it to friends and family this year. Don’t forget the marshmallows. And, what’s hot chocolate without marshmallows?

That seriously sounds delicious! I may have to try that tonight!
my kids love hot cocoa! Perfect way to warm up on a cold winter day. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
I make my hot chocolate from scratch the way my mom taught me. I take unsweetened cocoa (about a tablespoon) and mix it with 2 tablespoons of white sugar. I add a little water to make almost a syrup, then I froth some milk on the stove top, mix it together, and enjoy a rich creamy chocolaty hot chocolate. Yummm :). I’m going to try adding cinnamon to it the next time I make it. 🙂
