Most Versatile Sandals for Busy Women

Last Updated on June 22, 2023 by Ellen Christian

I have been searching for the most versatile sandals to wear this summer.  The minute the weather starts to warm up, I look forward to slipping into my sandals and showing off my new spring nail polish on my toes.

When I choose sandals, how versatile they are is very important. I have a few cute pairs I only wear to dress up in but the sandals I wear all day need to be much more flexible. I need them to be cute, comfortable and able to be worn with several outfits.

When I was sent the Dansko Iris sandal, part of the Sierra Collection, for a feature on my site, I knew that these were sandals I could wear all day comfortably. The Dansko Iris has a dual density footbed with memory foam and soft leather uppers with Scotchgard™ protection. You know how comfortable memory foam mattresses are, right? Can you imagine walking on a footbed made of memory foam all day. Talk about comfortable!

The kids and I will be doing a lot of local traveling this summer to visit some historical and educational spots in the area. I want sandals that are comfortable enough to wear if we are hiking a walking trail but nice enough to wear if we stop somewhere for dinner.  The Dansko Iris is the perfect choice for both of these. Nubuk leather has a very soft, silky feel but can easily be wiped clean with a damp cloth if needed.

Because it can be adjusted in several different spots, it is one of the most comfortable pairs of sandals that I’ve ever worn. There is added support and comfort because the footbed is contoured.  I need that extra support when I’ll be on my feet. The outer footbed is slip resistant so I have no worries about wearing it on the dock at the beach or at the maritime museum when we visit. The 1 1/2″ heel makes it the perfect height for me. It’s available in black, blue, chocolate, orchid and sand in sizes 5 1/2 to 12 so it will literally go with any outfit.

Hubbardton Battlefield - Vermont - most versatile sandals

I decided to wear my new sandals to the Hubbardton Battlefield. The Hubbardton Battlefield is the site where the Green Mountain Boys fought the British on July 7, 1777. We visit every year on that date when they have the re-enactment. During other times of the year, it’s still a gorgeous place to visit and check out the scenery. Even after wandering around, my feet were still comfortable!

  3. We haven’t decided what we’re going to do this summer yet. With 4 teenagers in the house, I’m sure we’ll find some adventure some where!

  4. I don’t really have a vacation planned, but I live 20 minutes from the beach, so I hope to be there as much as possible on the weekends.  I love Danskos.  After developing Plantar Fasciitis, I was searching for better shoes and I discovered this brand.  I wear them to work year round.  I would love to win a pair of these sandals.

  5. We’ve gone to Busch Gardens several times. We went to the Eastern Shore of Va this last week and will go back in a few weeks. We also are planning a trip to Wintergreen, Va and to the Outer Banks. We like to take short trips in the summer.

  15. Those Dansko Iris sandals look great, Ellen! That shade of blue reminds me of blue skies and shimmering oceans. It’s just so calming and soothing. I prefer the orchid color though, since pink is my favorite color. 😉

  17. I think I was meant to read this post because I have such a hard time finding comfortable sandals for my wide feet that don’t look dumpy or matronly. Lucky you to have received a pair to review. Thanks for sharing with us!
