Do you know how to help your child like math? I am the first person to admit that I really dislike math. Unless it involves how much I can save on a pair of jeans if the store is having a 20% off sale, I am really not interested. I take my iPhone with me everywhere I go. It has a calculator – enough said. I don’t recall when I started to dislike math. I remember not enjoying it as far back as grade school. My parent’s philosophy on school work was that you sat at the kitchen table and did it over and over again until it was correct. Since math never came easily to me, I’m sure I spent a fair amount of time re-doing it all. This post has been sponsored.

How to Help Your Child Like Math
Learning how to help your child like math can make things more enjoyable in the future. This can be even more of a challenge if your child has a learning disability. Here are a few tips that I have found work for us.
Math in everyday life
Involve them in using math in everyday life. I used coupons to get them interested. When we went shopping I would show them a box of cookies for $2 and ask how much a .50c coupon would make the box cost. Help them understand how math is used in everyday life. Explain to them as they are older how the carpenter uses math when he builds a house or how you need math to measure fabric for a craft.
Be available
Be available to help your child with their math homework if they need it. Nothing is more frustrating than not understanding something and not having help. Read books to your child that involve math. One of my favorites was One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss.
Encourage practice
Give them their own piggy bank and let them count the money that they save. I like the banks that sort the money by type. Let them pretend to run their own store and use a cash register with play money.
Play games
Have them play fun math apps like Lola’s Math Train 2. This colorful app guides children through simple math problems and helps them understand what they are learning with interactive characters.
My thoughts
Lola’s Math Train 2 features nineteen exciting mathematics games with Lola Pandaâ„¢. It is a fun way for your child to learn addition, subtraction, and simple puzzle solving. LOLA PANDAâ„¢ Progress Tracker keeps you updated on your child’s progress so you can see where they might need extra help. There are various levels to choose from: easy, medium, and hard. The game offers advancing difficulty as children’s skills improve.
About the game
So, the game begins with Lola driving a train with several of her friends on board. At each stop, you are presented with a different math problem. Lola’s Math Train is a fun combination of different types of math. You may solve addition problems twice and then move onto putting numbers in order. You may subtract numbers or choose which problem’s answer is the largest or smallest. If you get it correct, you move onto the next stop on the train. If you get it wrong, you try again. When you answer a certain number of questions correctly, you get to choose a fun outfit or accessory for the animals on your train.
And, the upbeat music and fun characters definitely make learning math fun for your child. Having three different levels means that the app will grow with your child’s ability. The different types of questions will help keep their interest. If you are trying to figure out how to help your child like math, start with Lola’s Math Train 2. Lola’s Math Train is available for purchase now for only $1.99.

I love math! It’s always been my favorite (and easiest) subject. I’m excited to see that my girls have the same knack for it but we encourage it by making sure we have fun ways for them to learn. Real life experiences with activities involving math, board games that involve math as well as electronic games.Â
You are so lucky that it has always been easy for you! I have always struggled with math.
