How to Set a Halloween Table for Adults
I love all of the holidays and decorating for each of them is fun. That said, my “kids” are 16 and 20 so my decorating ideas are generally less cartoon/character inspired and more seasonally inspired.
For Halloween decorations, I tend to focus more on autumn and less on witches, vampires, and Frankenstein.
You’ll probably find a handful of spiders or a cobweb here or there as well. Did you know that spiders are actually the most active in the late summer and autumn?
They are preparing their egg sac so that it can hatch in the spring.
When I consider how to set a Halloween table for adults, I generally choose colors from nature. I love orange pumpkins, brown pine cones, and yellow leaves.
While I could just set the table using those colors, I like a little something special for guests when we entertain.
Of course, you can also use Halloween plates if you have them. This year, I decided I would make a festive favor for Halloween so that I could send our guests home with a special treat.
I got this idea from Tori’s Tasty Tips for Halloween Entertaining and Starburst Candy Corn.
Festive Favors
Materials
- Starburst Candy Corn (which I cannot find online) or try these red Candy Corn and traditional Candy Corn
- Small jar
- Twine
- Scissors
- Paper
- Pen
This product presentation was made with AAWP plugin.
I couldn’t find the cute jars that Tori used in her craft so I used jelly jar sized Mason jars. I added a round circle of yellow cardstock to the top so the canning jar lid didn’t show through. If you find jars with hinged lids, you will not need that.
- Step 1 – Fill small jars with assorted Starburst Candy corn pieces. Layer them to make stripes of color.
- Step 2 – To make gift tags, print or write a short message multiple times on a piece of paper in the shape of your choice, measuring approximately 1″x2″. They suggest: Thanks for brightening up my Halloween.
- Step 3 – Once complete, use scissors to cut the individual gift tags and punch a single hole at one end of each tag.
- Step 4 – Weave twine through the opening and tie the gift tag around the rim of the jar.
You can then set the festive favor on each dinner plate for guests to take home after dinner.
