So, did you ever want something cold on a really hot summer day? Many people choose a bowl of ice cream or some kind of frozen treat on a stick.

Those are good too, but they’re also much higher in sugar and fat than a bowl of cold summer fruit.  Of course, it works just as well any time of year.

We often have fruit salad before the main course during the holidays instead of a garden salad.

Fruit salad is one of those things that you can easily change up depending on what fresh fruits you have at home.  If it’s strawberry season in the summertime and you find yourself with tons of strawberries, add a few more strawberries.

If it’s the fall and you have apples or blueberries but strawberry prices are through the roof, add apples and blueberries instead. There are so many fresh fruit salad ideas to try.

Can I use canned fruit in fruit salad?

I would definitely recommend sticking with the fresh fruit when you are making this Fancy Fruit Salad recipe.  Make sure that the fruit you use is not too ripe.

When preparing a fruit salad, the fruit should be firm and ripe and not soft or mushy. I try to find organic or local fresh fruits whenever I can.

Finding tropical fresh fruits that are organic can be very difficult so I do the best that I can.

Finally, you can also serve this fancy fruit salad recipe sprinkled over a bowl of your favorite granola for breakfast. I love fresh fruit on my granola and this is an easy way to change up the fruit you use to top your cereal.

Or, add it on top of your yogurt if you don’t eat grains.  This is an easy breakfast fruit salad recipe.
