Also, this Honey Bundt Cake would taste good with frosting. For dinner, how about a burger, fries and a strawberry milkshake?

How do you dye frosting pink naturally?

This naturally pink frosting recipe is free of high fructose corn syrup and artificial food coloring.  So, you can make it darker or lighter depending on how much of the pureed strawberries you add.

Just be aware that the puree will thin your frosting a little bit so you may need to adjust the amount of confectioners sugar you add.

So, while I used strawberries to naturally dye my frosting, this recipe would also work with raspberries or cherries if those were in season.

You can also try blueberries or black raspberries for blue or purple frosting. Just be certain to choose organic fruit when you buy or pick it.

I have also heard people using beet juice or cranberry juice to dye frosting without food coloring. If you try that, then let me know how it works.

So, you can also use this method to dye cupcakes pink. You may need to adjust the amount of wet ingredients you use in your cupcake recipe so it’s not too wet.

And, the cupcakes will taste like strawberries. So, keep that in mind.

I hope you enjoy this natural pink frosting recipe. You can use it for your cakes or cupcakes.

You can make pink frosting naturally with any white or light yellow frosting recipe. So, this will work for cream cheese frosting or buttercream frosting.

  2. My sister-in-law made a similar recipe for her daughter’s 5th birthday party. One of the little guests took a bite of cupcake and said, “It’s strawberry frosting!” She ate just the top third of the cupcake so she’d have some cake to go with her strawberry frosting. I just remember how cute I thought she was.
    Thanks for the recipe!

  6. Ellen, I want cupcakes right now. lol That looks so good. We try to steer clear of colors too; it’s so hard because they’re in just about everything you can buy. Definitely pinning this for future reference. Thanks so much for sharing on Inspire Me Wednesday. Featuring you in this week’s issue.

  8. Ellen you are brilliant. I so plan on cutting out all these yucky dyes that are riddled in our foods. This is a nice alternative.  The possibilities are endless. I am going to try this with blueberries for my son’s birthday especially since his favorite color is blue!

  9. I love this!  Colored frostings are so pretty, but I would much rather not use artificial dyes.  (Not I also have a cupcake craving!)
