Aromatherapy for Stress Relief

Most of the time, I can manage stress fairly well.  A few quiet minutes before bed and a cup of chamomile tea help me regroup my thoughts. Lately, I have been having more problems unwinding at the end of the day.

I’ve been hearing a lot about aromatherapy but I honestly didn’t know anything about it. Did you know that the art of aromatherapy can be traced back to the great ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece, and Rome where essential oils were valued for their many uses?

Aromatherapy is using the scent of different plants to make you feel better. The scent you choose depends on how you want to feel. Different scents wake you up, help relieve stress or help you get a good night’s sleep.

The most important thing to understand is that there is a difference between a fragrance oil and an essential oil.  Fragrance oils are basically artificial scents.

Essential oils are scents that are distilled from plants.  They have the same fragrance and properties of the plant they come from.

Essential oils can be used in an aromatherapy diffuser or in a massage with a skin and body oil.  I do not have a lot of room in my home so I found that the Scent Ball Aromatherapy Diffuser worked perfectly for me.

This diffuser plugs directly into an electrical outlet which means that it is not in my way and isn’t something that can be spilled or knocked over by the cats.

I simply added five drops of an essential oil on the reusable pad insert.  I placed the insert into the diffuser and plugged it in.  After a few minutes, I was able to notice the scent and experience the benefits.

So, if you have someone in your life that will give you a massage, you can enjoy aromatherapy for stress relief with a soothing massage.  Wonder Oil is a relaxing blend of olive oil, sunflower seed oil, wheat germ oil, sweet almond oil and jojoba oil.

It also includes a blend of 14 herbs in a base of safflower oil plus a citrus blend of grapefruit, lemon, and orange.  You can use it as a hot oil treatment for your hair or even a cuticle oil for tired hands.

Puritan’s Pride offers a variety of essential oils to use in aromatherapy for stress relief. If you are feeling stressed out, I definitely recommend you try aromatherapy.  It only takes a few moments to close your eyes at your desk or in your room and refocus using these products.

  2. I love the plug-in diffuser. I learned an aromatherapy plug-in diffuser with a scent ball is the easiest way to get the scent into your home or office. It’s easy to use; you simply put 5 to 10 drops on the reusable pad and place it in the diffuser. Plug in the diffuser, and voila! Within minutes, you will begin to experience that essential oil. Thanks for having this contest.

  3. I learned that weight bearing exercise can help your bone health! Exercises that use muscles to fight gravity are great for strengthening bones. Interesting!

  4. I love the reminder that scents are connected to our memories.  I got really sick after eating at a French restaurant years ago.  To this day, I avoid tarragon.

  8. Aromatherapy provokes memories by scent alone, whether good or bad.  Also, oils can interfere with certain medications so you do need to be careful and check with your physician.  My daughter did some thorough research on this because she was interested in aromatherapy for herself.

  10. I learned If you have a positive or negative memory associated with any scent, it will bring back those memories. I guess I had never thought of that before but makes sense.

  14. Wow. While I’ve often had scents the provide positive memories, I’ve never really thought about the flipside of that. It said before using aromatherapy, be sure to honor your past…
