Have you ever tried a tropical fruit power bowl? It has just been too hot to cook for the past several weeks, so I have been looking for healthy meals that don’t need to be cooked. A power bowl is an ideal choice for hot weather. A power bowl is a quick and easy meal that focuses on power foods that are high in protein and nutrients. They help you stay fit, full and mentally focused. Thank you to Hood for sponsoring today’s recipe.

How to Make a Tropical Fruit Power Bowl
Having a selection of power bowls in the refrigerator is an excellent way to ensure you have a quick, healthy meal when you’re pressed for time. I usually make two or three at a time, so I have them ready when I need one. What you add to your power bowl depends on your personal preferences, but there it’s very important to focus on real foods because they are the healthiest. Here are just a few suggestions:
- Vegetables
- Fruits
- Nuts (unsalted is preferred)
- Seeds
- Whole Grains
- Dairy
This tropical fruit power bowl focuses on fruits instead of vegetables. I often have it for breakfast or brunch, but it would work just as well for a light dinner. The paleo granola I use is lightly sweetened and contains nuts and seeds. If you cannot find that in your area, you can simply add your favorite nut and seed combination to your power bowl. I added the Hood Cottage Cheese with Pineapple Added because it’s yummy and because it’s high in protein. Protein will help you feel full longer which will discourage you from snacking between meals.

Ingredients
- Lettuce to line the bowl
- Mango
- Grapes
- Cantaloupe or other melon
- Paleo granola
- Blueberries
- Hood Cottage Cheese with Pineapple Added
Instructions
- Line the bowl with fresh lettuce. I prefer leaf lettuce, but you can use iceberg lettuce if you prefer. Toss in some arugula and spinach if you like as well.
- Create triangular shaped wedges of each type of ingredient.
- I try to alternate colors to make it visually appealing.
- Eat immediately or refrigerator for later use.
I cannot tell you how refreshing this is for lunch on a hot day. You can mix up the contents a bit to include other favorite fruits and vegetables. I’d love to add in bananas and shredded coconut with the next one. I think fresh strawberries would taste amazing with this as well. Using the Hood Cottage Cheese with Pineapple Added helps give the entire power bowl a tropical free.
Hood® Cottage Cheese with Pineapple Added now has more pineapple taste and provides a sweet snack or meal option that is also a good source of protein and calcium. Try it on its own or in your favorite power bowl recipe! You can find it in dairy cases throughout the Northeast in 24 oz. and 16 oz. containers.
What are your favorite ingredients for a power bowl?
