Space saving kitchen appliances are important when you have a small kitchen. Our New England farmhouse was built in 1865 and the kitchen is quite small compared to many. There just wasn’t the need for as much room in the kitchen in 1865 as there is today. I’ve tried many space saving kitchen appliances and have come to one decision. Many space saving kitchen appliances are too small and not powerful enough for family use.

Space Saving Kitchen Appliances
Space saving kitchen appliances don’t have to be miniature versions of larger kitchen appliances. A tiny blender or food processor make not take up as much physical space on your counter but if it doesn’t do the job, it’s a waste of space. Instead of focusing on smaller versions of kitchen appliances to save space, I have begun to focus on kitchen appliances that will perform more than one function. If I can eliminate three appliances that I don’t need by replacing them with one multi-function appliance, I have saved the space of three appliances in my kitchen.
I recently received a Cuisinart 12-Cup Food Processor from BuyDig.com. I’m a huge fan of the Cuisinart brand but have never owned a food processor before. I have a variety of small appliances instead – choppers, blenders, smoothie makers, etc. It was getting to the point that I felt I really needed to find some space saving kitchen appliances because I had no more room. I wanted to find one appliance that could handle a number of different kitchen tasks for me.
The Cuisinart 12-Cup Food Processor is two food processors in one. It has both twelve and four cup nested bowls. That means it works great when I am chopping cabbage for a big batch of coleslaw but also works equally when when I want to chop an onion. It includes adjustable slicing and reversible shredding discs so it can perform eight functions with only two discs. It even has a dough blade for making pizza dough or bread dough.
I love to cook and enjoy making things from scratch. I start with a lot of fresh ingredients because it’s a healthier way to cook. That also means that those fresh ingredients need to be processed by me since I’m not purchasing them processed at the store. I love to make jams and jellies in the summer when our trees are producing. I make zucchini bread from the zucchini in the garden. Buying blocks of cheese at the grocery store is cheaper than buying it shredded.
The Cusinart 12-Cup Food processor has allowed me to get rid of several smaller appliances. I have used it to slice fennel bulb uniformly when making soup instead of trying to slice it by hand. I made the most delicious Strawberry Butter and used it to blend everything together without having my arm cramp from doing it by hand. It truly does take care of all of these functions. The quality of this food processor is truly amazing and it has a ten year motor warranty. It’s very easy to use and there is a section of recipes included in the manual to get yous tarted.
