It’s hard to believe that the new year is almost here. Have you started to think about how to set your goals for a new year? No matter how hard I try to prepare, the new year always seems to sneak up on me. Then, I find myself only a few weeks away from a new beginning reflecting on goals and projects that I haven’t met from last year. It can be frustrating sometimes. I have such great intentions but often have problems following through and achieving my goals. Thank you to Concordia University for sponsoring this conversation.

I think that part of my problem is that I set goals without having a clear understanding of how to get there. It’s easy to say “I want to lose 20 pounds.” or “I want to earn $20,000 more next year.” but how exactly do we get there? That’s the part that’s harder. Figuring out how to set your goals correctly can make all the difference.

I’ve been taking a course from Concordia University called How to Create Your Personal Space which focuses on how to get where you want to be in life. It’s a free course and a great way for you to find the right path to achieve your own goals. After you complete this course, you will know yourself better and you’ll understand what it takes to take the next step towards your own personal success.

The How to Create Your Personal Space online course explores:

  • Why having a personal place is needed
  • How to teach yourself to professionally grow
  • The importance of connecting
  • How to succeed with encouragement

Best of all, it’s free, and you can take the course anywhere because it’s online. You can work on it at your own pace – when the kids are napping – on your lunch break at work – in the morning before anyone else is awake. My favorite time is first thing in the morning when I enjoy my coffee. I’m an early riser and everyone else is a night owl, so it works perfectly.

The course is all about how to now yourself better and what strategic steps it takes to succeed. The course is free, delivered to your inbox by email, and takes about 1 week and 3 – 4 hours to complete. Work at your own pace. The course is made up of essays, videos, interactive polls, and download journals. All the content from this email course is taken from Concordia University Wisconsin’s 100% one-year Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and Administration (OLA).

Remember, the class is 100% free so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Sign up today and you’ll have a clearer idea of how to set your goals for a new year.

  1. Thank you. I am planning to grow my business and professionally but just not sure how to achieve my goal. This would be a great way to start.

  2. I was just looking at my paper devotional this morning, the one I write in, and for January, the first few days are on goals, and I sort of groaned. I need to look at this course and be specific and not so grandiose this year on my goals, so I'm not overwhelmed. If I'm already feeling dread now, I'm in trouble! I'm still finishing this year's goals (continuing education hours) so I need to focus on them first, then on to next year!
