We are very lucky to have a ton of maple trees on our property. Our neighbor sugars them for us for free in exchange for a portion of the syrup.

We always end up with at least eight jars of maple syrup each year and since we wouldn’t sugar them ourselves, it’s a great arrangement.

If you love maple syrup as much as I do, why not try these Maple Sugar Muffins? They are so good, you just have to try them.

Since we also have ducks and chickens that keep us in eggs, French Toast is something we eat a lot of.  Adding maple syrup to the French toast makes it even better!  I found this recipe in the Dishing Up Maine cookbook and shared it with permission.

This easy breakfast recipe is really flexible depending on your preferences. If you’re gluten intolerant, you can make it with good-quality gluten-free bread. Just watch that it doesn’t get too wet or the bread may fall apart. This keto bread works really well in French toast.

You can make it with non-dairy milk like almond milk for those that are lactose intolerant. You can also fry it in coconut oil if you’d rather skip the butter.

Just experiment a bit until it works the way you want it to. Just please, whatever you do, use real maple syrup.

What is the best bread for French toast?

We generally use whatever day-old bread we happen to have on hand. This gives the bread a little bit more form which helps it hold up to the dipping and frying process.

They do make “French toast bread” which is simply traditional bread that is sliced a bit thicker.

Maple French Toast Recipe for a Special Breakfast Treat

The best tip I can give you is to make sure that you cook it in a pan with a lot of butter or coconut oil so that it doesn’t stick. I’m a huge fan of my cast iron pans and always make sure there is enough oil or butter so they don’t stick and make a giant mess.

That will really help make this the best French toast recipe you’ve ever tried! So, do you eat French toast with syrup?

This maple toast recipe is absolutely delicious for breakfast or make breakfast for dinner for your family to enjoy.

Serve this classic French toast recipe alone or with eggs, bacon, sausage, or ham. We love French toast with maple syrup and bacon.

Can I make a maple French toast bagel?

Yes, you definitely can. Simply slice the bagel as you would normally and use it in place of bread in this recipe. It’s a delicious treat!
