How to Teach Your Kids to Cook Healthy Foods and Enjoy Them

Last Updated on June 24, 2019 by Ellen Christian

Have you ever wondered how to teach your kids to cook healthy foods? It seems like so many of the foods that are marketed to children are unhealthy. They’re encouraged to microwave a carb-heavy breakfast sandwich or dunk their pre-sliced apples into a dipping sauce with high fructose corn syrup. Yes, I want my kids to be able to prepare meals independently but not by sacrificing healthy foods. I am sharing this post in partnership with Healthy Hands Cooking. How to Teach Your Kids to Cook

I’m going to be honest with you here. When I got married at 18, I knew how to make macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese, and chicken noodle soup. That’s it. I knew that when I had children, I wanted them to have a different experience. Now that they’re older, I’m so glad that I took the time to teach them this. I see them making healthy meals when they cook fairly regularly. I wish this were something that more parents had done.

  2. Teaching kids to cook is so important. Growing up, my mom would always have each of us kids make one dinner every week. I learned how to make so many dishes that I might not otherwise know. Totally different from my husband who ended up as an adult who just knew how to heat up hot pockets lol.
