Holiday Jams | Cranberry Raisin Jam for Christmas

Cranberry Raisin Jam

Holiday jams make wonderful Christmas gifts. Most people don’t make their own jams or jellies any longer so receiving a homemade holiday jam is a bit of a treat.

You can put holiday jams in a basket along with some kitchen towels and a loaf of homemade bread for a larger gift idea.

This Cranberry Raisin Jam is one of my favorite holiday jams because it’s so festive looking. This jam is NOT processed so it will need to be refrigerated to keep fresh.

If you give this as a gift, make sure that they know it will need to be stored in the refrigerator when they get home. I found that it didn’t last long at all. That’s how delicious it was.

You can use golden raisins or regular raisins in this recipe. Please buy organic raisins since grapes have a very high level of pesticides used on them traditionally.

Grapes from Chili (90% of the grapes from January to April) can have up to 17 different chemicals sprayed on them. Organic raisins are also naturally sun-dried rather than dried with the use of preservatives.

This recipe makes 7 little crystal jelly jars. They are 4 ounces each. You could make larger jars if you prefer but you’d probably only get three full jars.

When you see bags of fresh cranberries in the grocery store around Thanksgiving, buy several bags.

You can easily toss them in the freezer to use during the rest of the year. In our stores, once the holidays are gone, I cannot find fresh cranberries any longer.

You can make this recipe with fresh cranberries or frozen ones.

Can you make this with dried cranberries?

I have never made this cranberry raisin jam recipe with dried cranberries. They don’t have the moisture content that fresh or frozen cranberries have so I am not sure if it would work.

You might be able to let them soak in water. And, then try the recipe. But, you would really have to experiment to see if it works. If you try it let me know how it goes.

To give this as a gift, you can use a jam label and package the jam with a loaf of homemade bread, a cutting board, and a pair of potholders or oven mitts.

Just use your creativity. You could always include a variety of your homemade jams. I usually tend to put up several different types each year. You can try a few other holiday jams below.

Or, you could also include pickles, relish, sauerkraut, or any other type of homemade food item. Everyone loves getting homemade gifts that taste delicious!

    • Hi, Carol - Like I mentioned in the first paragraph, this is not processed so it needs to be kept in the refrigerator to stay fresh. It's meant to be given as a gift and used immediately. I've never tried canning it for long-term storage so I don't know the exact times.

  5. This looks so delicious!!! I was wondering if you've ever used it as a substitute for cranberry sauce at thanksgiving? It looks like it would be really good as a side dish too?  Thanks for sharing your recipe, saw it on The Scoop.
