Frozen Banana Frappe Recipe

I’m not sure that there is anything I look forward to first thing in the morning more than coffee. I’m one of those people that needs at least 3 or 4 cups to get moving in the morning.

You may want to try my chocolate mocha protein shake for another great way to start your morning. Or, check out these coffee drinks with milk.

While I look forward to a hot cup of coffee on a cool morning, as the temperatures rise, I tend to look for something cold. Sometimes I decide to go with an iced coffee but recently I found a delicious recipe for a Frozen Banana Frappe on Pinterest that I wanted to try.

Are frappes good for you?

A traditional frappuccino tends to be very high in sugar. This banana frappe recipe is a modified version that is a bit more on the healthy side.

The original recipe called for using traditional dairy milk. Since I try to stay Paleo when possible, I wanted to substitute a Paleo friendly ingredient. I decided to go with coconut milk instead and it’s absolutely delicious!

This is an absolutely delicious dairy-free frozen dessert. If you’re trying to stay as close to Paleo as possible, you can definitely omit the vanilla and the grated dark chocolate.

These are generally things that people allow but some purists prefer to avoid them. If you’d rather, try grating cinnamon on top for a different taste.

The next time you’re tempted to have a bowl of ice cream or stop at the local coffee shop for a frozen treat, try this banana frappe recipe instead. It’s delicious and so much healthier.

What’s the best coffee to use?

I’m the first person to admit that I don’t function without coffee. I love the convenience of my Keurig but I hate the waste of traditional k-cups and the mess of reusable filters.

At Intelligent Blends, you can get eco-friendly recyclable pods! If you want to make this coffee banana frappe recipe as easy as possible, try it with one of these.

How to make banana jam

Do the bananas need to be frozen?

Yes, to make this drink frozen, you need to start with frozen bananas. Just put them in the freezer before bedtime and they will be perfect by morning.

Without adding frozen bananas, your frappe won’t be the correct consistency. It will be more like a banana smoothie.

Can I double the banana frappe recipe?

Yes. Just make sure that your blender is strong enough to handle it. Or, you can make them separately.

  1. It has been so hot here lately, my morning hot coffee has not been very appealing. This sounds perfect! I love the addition of bananas and chocolate too.

  2. There is hope! I was a diehard coffee drinker but have successfully switched to tea, even ice tea is OK. I have instant coffee on hand if I just need my fix, lol. I did grab a free cup of Joe at the bank today, so I am good for now! I love this uses cold coffee and great healthy bananas. Sounds delish.

  4. This looks delicious.  My 16 year old has a dairy allergy, and he was just complaining that he never gets iced coffee anymore because it always has cream.  I will have to make this for him.
